Anyone know of a quick and easy, high quality loop transposing app?

All I need it to do is open a loop, transpose to the right semitone without affecting the beat, preview to make sure it is correct, and export. Anyone know of anything that does this with great quality?

  • Blocs wave.

  • Granular sampling: grain science. I don't know the length limits but I've done 4 bars at least You'll transpose by playing it on the pitch you want, recording the output. You can apply effects. Blocs wave will change the timing when transposing so that wouldn't be my first choice.

  • @Halftone @gonekrazy3000 Blocs Wave is what I have currently. I was actually hoping to find something better though, since it doesn't have per loop tuning. So I guess that would be the minimum standard. Nothing less than Blocs Wave will be sufficient.

  • @db909 Are you sure about it changing the timing? I was under the impression that it kept the timing when changing the pitch...

    What about GlitchBreaks?
You may have to 'fine tune' the pitch manually though.

I dunno technically, but to my ears something sounds off. I definitely hear slight changes in pitch when changing the tempo. I assume it works the other way around as well. Or i could be deceived. In any case though, grain science will offer more flexibility in terms of getting it at exactly the pitch you want. Blocs just has one chromatic scale voiced across whatever octave range they chose to transpose to as I'm sure you know.

  • I think AudioStretch would work. Great app for slowing down and transposing music.

  • Auria Pro's pitch shifter. Just import your loop to Auria Pro, select it, in the menu "Process" select pitch shift and you'll get a range from -24 to +24 to play. After appying the pitch shift, the pitch shifted region is pasted just above the original region - they have the exact same lenght, meaning the same duration/tempo. You just drag the pitch shifted region forward or to another track, then you'll both the original file and the pitch shifted file. Then you can transfer it to AudioShare to open wherever you want.

It's the best pitch shifter in all iOS - because it uses Élastique Pro v.3, the same algorythm used by the major Desktop DAWs (such as ProTools). I used it all the time for entire tracks, loops and even entire songs: very useful.

By the way, Auria's time stretch with pitch preservation (basically the opposite of what you are asking) is also damn good and useful.

    All the best!

Will try this. One of my favorite things about Auria (and I have many) is how much stuff there is still in there I haven't got around to yet etc.

  • P.S..: @Audiojunkie. Forgot to tag you in my answer. :D

  • P.P.S.: Oh, it's -12 to +12, not -24 to +24. But nothing prevents you from reapplying the pitch shifter to the already pitch shifted region, giving you theoretically unlimited range. And it also has formant lock and a knob for fine tuning in cents. @Audiojunkie @JohnnyGoodyear

  • Twisted Wave lets you pitch up or down one cent at a time, up to 1200 cents.

  • +1 for Audiostretch, BM2 and Auria pro also good

  • You may want to look at Anytune Pro + as well.

  • Thanks everyone!! I'll look into these!! :-)

  • I think MAYBE you can copy and paste into Djay app and then transpose it via the key and it should keep in time. Then you either record it through Audiobus to audioshare or whatever end app, then trim. It's the trimming of loops though in general that is a pain with ios compared to a mouse and say audacity on desktop. Good luck!
