Yet another Gadget question

What is this little cloud thingie in the Open menu next to the track's name? I assumed it was some sort of iCloud backup, but upon tapping it nothing was added to my iCloud drive. I looked in the user manual but it wasn't mentioned as far as I could tell.

Comments

  • If you have Gadget installed on multiple devices, you can upload it to the Cloud to work on the track on several devices. Example, start a track on your iPad, finish it on your iPhone.

How do you know that Richard hasn't got an family pet named Supertions?

In Sweden we call persons of your kind for Ordpolis (word police)...

  • Oh I was joking. I forgot to put a smiley face in there. Or maybe its one of Korgs weird auto names.

  • Thanks for the information, and for the correction. :)

I take it these files aren't visible in iCloud? Also, any documentation for this feature anywhere?

The files show up under your normal iCloud storage (not iCloud Drive)

  • so are these reliable backups if you delete Gadget?

No, not really. The iCloud backups DO NOT save any samples loaded into Bilbao or Abu Dhabi. So if you transfer a song to another device, you aren't transferring those samples over too - just data.

Also, it can take up to a few hours for the iCloud saved track to show up as available on your other device, so don't freak out when you don't see it there immediately.

Good point. So the only real backup for Gadget songs is still through iTunes? :(

Or ifunbox. i never use itunes unless i need to install apps....

  • iCloud has to be the worst feature Apple have ever implemented. I can't get it to work reliably with any app. I spend inordinate amounts of time trying to figure out how to resolve conflicts or how to recover files that have f*cked off completely. Dropbox FTW IMO.

Why does stuff like this always happen? You run across two random things you would almost never take note of, but do, that you haven't come across in years that are closely related within hours of each other. The odds way are too tiny to be a coincidence, yet it happens all the time.

I was sitting in my car and happened to notice a sign for a new Circle K being built near a bank that I never go to. I thought "Wow, haven't seen one of those 20 years. I wonder what's up in San Dimas these days."

    Then this. :o

it is indeed an icloud icon but it may do nothing in functionality.

  • Is sending a project through this cloud feature the best way for me to get original patches I've programmed in iM1 on my iPad into Darwin/Gadget on my iPhone? I'm thinking the process would be program in iM1, save to Library card, open Gadget on iPad, get custom patch from Library card in Darwin, use custom patch in project, export to cloud, open from cloud in iPhone, get custom patch alive and well in iPhone Darwin/Gadget.

    Synchronicity

It is for sharing your projects between devices. It does not actually save your project to your icloud storage but syncs it.

  • Is it time for another Audiobus forum philosophy jam? On the nature of synchronicity?

If it is, then that'd be spooky.
