Is it a kind of Theremin like Bebot , Era , Noise roli ? Noise is a very good sounding app but i have no idea How to Record something with it .The IAP hybrid acoustic is excellent but we need audiobus and IAA ! Same thing for Geoshred with midi

Besides getting mpe midi from an external controller, how can you make advantage of the extended possibilities between apps?
From some posts (@Matt_Fletcher_2000 and @HandOfEmpty) I've gathered I could play notes from an mpe app to multiple instruments (on different channels), and/or send several parameter control messages and even, with midi thru & arpeggiating, let incoming notes/cc's be spread/cycle over/on the midi out channels.
Curious on your take on it, does it offer significant advantages over accomplishing such tasks by a conventional sequencer?

As you probably know, the soundshaping possibilities afforded by note-per-channel are a lucky byproduct of the workaround the MPE crew needed to use to get polyphonic aftertouch and individual pitchbend for each note, neither of which are natively supported by MIDI. I'd love a Seaboard or a Linnstrument, but the hook for me is having different synths or voices play different parts of a chord or performance.
You can take it a step further from the Nord Drum / Gadget examples and have a completely different synth or sampler play each note. If you perform with ThumbJam or Geoshred, you can set it up so each successive keystroke cycles through channels 2-5 with a different instrument on each one. If you use a proper MPE controller, you can get most of the MPE expressiveness happening there too without needing proper MPE support on the synth side.
If you have numerous monophonic hardware synths, you can use this principle to play them polyphonically with one keyboard. Just imagine hooking up six MS-20s...
Another possibility is using Navichord's note-per-channel support which doesn't cycle, but instead always sends the first note in a chord to channel 1, the second to channel 2, the third to channel 3, etc. In this situation you lose some of the beautiful randomness that comes from cycling through different sound sources, but you can design your chords precisely. For example, in Aum you can have iSymhonic play the root note, have iMini and iMS20 playing the second and third notes, and have M3000 play the rest. Run them all into the same FX bus with BIAS and Crystalline and you've got a beautiful mess. Yes, that's a particularly chaotic example, but more tasteful combinations aren't hard to dream up. You could easily have five separate instances of iSymphonic in Auria with different FabFilter effect combinations on each note. Pure indulgence.
Another thing is the microtonal possibilities that come from these types of controllers. In this video, Dolores Catherino is using a controller where the keys are 20 cents apart instead of 100 (a semitones). I'm not sure if this is an MPE controller per se, but this is the kind of thing you can do.
As for sequencing, I'm now pleased to be able to play back a regular single channel MIDI performance - through Geoshred as a MIDI "filter" - into my six-times-mono Nord Drum and have it play back polyphonically instead of sequencing it manually across six tracks - which is completely impractical. The Geoshred filter trick means you can do the simplified note-per-channel thing using a normal sequencer. For me that's huge, mostly because I'm intent on getting as much as I possibly can out of this Nord Drum.

It is one string (row) in geoshred per channel, and you say it's happening between, when playing notes consecutively, yes? From my keyboard I could see that notes from a lower octave would trigger a different channel, how would the correct setup look like (for say Moog model 15 or Thumbjam) sending and receiving mpe midi? I noticed that a gadget instrument would be modulated from (a big enough) touch area/note per row in geoshred. Many thoughts and things to consider here.

Hi @ccs2 , MIDI in from a single channel always looks like it's "activating" the first row in GeoShred, but you don't need to worry about GeoShred's rows. The note-per-channel functionality is completely independent of the app's layout when using it as a channel - the "sequential" part happens automatically based on the order you play the notes. The pitchbend/vibrato thing is the most boring aspect of mpe to me,
but it's very expressive, that's what makes it great. (Roli isn't stupid you can turn the pitchbend/vibrato thing (they call it glide) off with one of the sliders and use all other 4 dimensions of touch, so you don't get such a wobbly pitch).
The little roli is only 2 octaves so it's very limited.
MPE is all about playing (and it generates an enormous amount of control data, it's based on midi, the splitting of the channels is done to get that amount of controll per note, it then walks the input channels around kind of like dynamic voice allocation in a Synth ), it makes every other none mpe keyboard look very old.
The 4 octave thing is fun, but it costs an arm and a leg.
On the desktop side there is logic, max, kyma and bitwig that support this.
The cheapest mpe controller is the the roli light blocks thing.
BTW. Roger Linn likes to hatefully speak of the piano as on/off switches and advertises his grid thing as the best idea since sliced bread

It's all very pricey now, but this is just the beginning.

I know you've mentioned in the past that you need some sort of tangible physical resistance or surface involved, but are you sure there isn't room for theremin-like implements within MPE?

But if you would additionally look at the distance of the hand to the source of the beam you would have a 2nd parameter...
So you could have pitch and fake velocity like every other midi controller.
Thinking about it this could work with video tracking too.

All of this is very gimmicky and nothing to be used for more than 5 or 10 minutes,
It simply makes your arm want to fall off,
Humans are not built for that kind of interface.
This is just a hexagonal keyboard nothing fancy about it.
Instead of distributing the microtonal pitches on the white keys as you would do it on an normal Keyboard she uses this so the pitches aren't that far away from each other so she can play stuff with one hand.

Some of the most 'expressive' keyboard solos I know were played on non-velocity/non-aftertouch devices.

If a group of note events is pitched by the same amount or by slight individual offsets doesn't make it more expressive just by the fact it can be done.

Alone the pressure/aftertouch thing is great.
There are no aftertouch keyboards on the market.
Sliding up and down on the keys is also great.
Release velocity is kind of unusual to play, needs some training.

They always talk about how limited keyboards are with pitch but that's not the way to push it, I think.

Noise for sure, GarageBand.
One important question is whether they have the sounds programmed for the five dimensions .this is certainly the case with Noise
Also you could use a workaround for tools which don't support it via using an AUv3 instance per midi channel. So you even can use polyphonic FX
Of course RAM and CPU could be the bottleneck.

SynthMaster player does support MPE. It’s a switch in MIDI settings (and, depending on the patch, it should open up the same possibilities as in the desktop version).
