Loop Tunes : Pleasant Surprise!

In the crowded neighborhood of redundant loop play back row homes and sound suburbia, as far as the eye can see there are "loop" players, remixers, and mundanity. That was until this app shocked the shit out of me like a thumb up the ..........well anyway.

The app itself has uniquely positioned itself in between the loop, production, performance, and DJ spectrum of app use for me. Because of the 2 separate but equal regions, the app allows one to multi track DJ or perform or have a complex assortment of loops for the production of one song neatly arranged into 2 libraries. It is kind of neat, it seems like the developer literally took some of the best features and popular ideas and put them all together into one neatly packaged Loop dragon.

The loops themselves are from Loopmasters. So, quality is not an issue. The thing is the quality of the sound of the app. That is what really stoked me. The app has a unique sound quality that all apps definitely don't have. I am not sure what audio engine is in it, but, it sounds great.

The loops them selves are great too. Alot of them are not quite full "loops" but not 1 shots. So, they don't sound like "loops" necessarily. And since you can adjust the key of each and it has MIDI control for many parameters it is really smart.

LOOP TUNES is a huge surprise for me. I swore NO more loop apps. But, I went against my better judgement and am glad I did. And I dig this app and think you will too.

  • Cant import own loops then?

  • It looks good. What are the others Loop apps you have ? Novation , Bloc Waves ? How is it compared to those ? I love XY pads so it could be a buy for me even if im not that much in Remixing and djing...Is there Time stretching and slicing ?

why would you ever want to do something like that, only sample packs go to heaven >:)

    At moment, I don't know.

I say I don't know because the MIDI features were like hidden. I will email developer and see what story is long and short term.

I really don't mind at moment. It just is a nice tool for me for getting something together quick to do vocal or lyric work or to bust through a creative jam.

It is like a sketch pad of sorts.

I will make loops from these loops and then process and/or sample them.

    In case you wondered....sorry

I love XY pads as well.

Honest, I haven't got super deep in it.
I just wanted to give 1 day use and first impression if it jives with me or not.

Slicing, not that I saw. That's cool, I have STROM, Samplr, Egoist, and Yellowfied for that.

I would guess with the key shifting/stretching that time is evident in that. I will check and email developer.

    I have:
    Launchpad app(every sound pack)
    Blocs (every sound pack)
    LP-5 (ever sound pack)
    Loopacks (every sound pack)
    Beat Hawk (every sound pack)

    I think that does it.

And of course the Akai apps with their loops.

Thanks for LP-5 it' s a good one .As usual i ve bought Your app (looptunes) by Curiosity ...Mmmh what to say ...Globaly it' s well done (change the key is an unique feature, pitch, effect ,incredible variety of excellent sounding loops) but what the Hell is this 2 dollars loopcredits.Every Time you need 20 loops you have to pay 2 Bucks :( .Those loops are excellents but i would prefer to pay one Time for one pack than this method...Perhaps we should write to dev to ask him something else ?

  • If only you could also import from music library and set exact loop start and end points, this would be extremely useful for me. And of course sample import/export

    LooptunesHD?

must be, cuz I can't find looptunes at all. Looks kinda cool.

  • well... some 5 years after Loopseque it looks rather humble
they had a similiar concept with after-market loops, but provided a smart website right from the start
    worth checking: http://loopseque.com/
while it looks a bit strange at first glance, it's really well thought out regarding sample handling/live fx
(clearly sorted stuff, systematic naming, audio is top quality)
you get a beat going within seconds into a groove, from simple to complex modifications
import own samples via iTunes/Dropbox, samples may have an envelope applied live with variable start and end
a different Kit can be applied to a groove with one click/glitchfree
and it does the MPC midi thingy that sends a midi event instead of a sample
(Loopseque kind of slipped under my own radar... I had an ioDock at the time and the app is fixed to portrait)

    cheers, Tom

  • Hi guys,
I'm the Looptunes developer and wanted to chime in, and also hopefully address questions you have.
Loop/sample import is not in yet, but it's very high on my list, and will be in one of the next versions, among other really cool features that I can't talk about :-)

    Peter

  • What is important with all those apps ( Rustik'list ) is that They have all Ableton Link .With aum and 2 ipads it' s a real LINKFEST and most of them are free <3

not to derail anything here, but does anyone remember the name of the app that had a circular set of colored sections ala sector on the left and then a vetical strip of effects on the right which you could sequence?
I believe it was called Loop??? something. It's been removed now.

Edit: Loop Twister! Great, I figured it out and can now continue with my day.
If anyone was curious.....remember this one? It was like a sector beta.

  • Ableton Link rocks. I use Looptunes with Live together, or sometimes with iMaschine2. Endless fun.

I hear you on the purchases.

Honestly, I would be the first to bitch. But, after I gave it a run through for the 2nd day now, I can say I bought like 5 and really that's all I felt I even would want. For the couple bucks the app cost for me, it was worth some of the guitar samples and vocals that I will more than get my money's worth. Let alone the fact it has enough on there to begin to serve the purpose of being a quick backing track as a work vocals or lead synths or actual guitar parts.

I appreciate you like the recommendations! THANKS

  • I own Loop Twister...fortunately, I kept the ipa file safe.

Easy to extract the loops and copy them to AudioShare, as well.
