App organization makes me nuts! Wish developer would address this...
Sometimes I get so frustrated trying to organize my apps (since I have so damn many now). Dragging through multiple pages is a real drag and the lag in iTunes is a drag when trying to do it there. I do wish a developer could create an organization tool that would make this all easier. Anyone else going nuts with this? Right now I have my apps strewn through many pages on my iPad and to find them I do the swipe down and type in the name. It works but all in all not a good solution since I can't group by type at this point without a ton of time and hassle...

I group them into folders. I have groups "keys", "music", "other" e.t.c.
I only have one page on my iPad

Nested folders would be nice.
I put folders in the dock as well.
I do the exact same thing. Find it much easier to navigate this way.
Sorry to say so, but, Apples whole iOS behavior is nowadays obsolete...
Why can't we just longpress an appicon and a menu popup where's one of the option could be "move to folder xxx"...
Sometime I wonder if the resposible staff of iOS using there's iPhone daily...
But, as always with Apple products, both software & hardware, the summery of all is kinda best...
Sometimes we all have an love/hate relationship with our dear Apple Inc...
This is what I do but the point I'm trying to make is how cumbersome it is to do it this way when you have hundreds of apps to keep track of.
yes!
didn't even think of that! I didn't know you could do that. Great idea. Wish I could add more to the dock.
True. But once you do it you are all set.
I'm hoping there may be some improvements to this in IOS 10!
true!
Oh, first world problems.
I do some organizing but mostly happy to use search. Organizing only seems useful to me when I don't know what I want to do and would like to browse looking for inspiration.
I erased the ones I don't use, haven't regretted it a bit. It's kind of distracting having tons of apps to dig through, to find the ones you use. Weed out the duds!
I organized the rest by having a page for synths, another for other keyboards (sampling keyboards, organs, etcs) and drum machines, another page for DAWs. There are some folders, one for effects (good to hide the FX apps, because they don't get loaded from the browser, they get loaded from audiobus or AUM), one for MIDI utility, one for MIDI sequencers, one for metering, one for novelty noisemakers, one for loopers.
I keep folders on the dock to store and organize unused apps, and keep used apps on the main home page.
For the used apps on the home page I created custom wallpaper with different colored backgrounds to easily distinguish types of apps, and have them organized in order of use:
First row are instruments, synths, etc. with a light color behind them
2nd row are MIDI controllers with a contrasting dark color behind them
3rd row are samplers with a light color again
4th row are studio type apps like Audioshare, Aum, etc. with a dark color again
Works surprisingly well, keeping things in landscape mode of course. Just helps the thought process: synth, to MIDI controller, to sampler, to record.
