Loopy to Samplr, best workflow? SOLVED!
I would like to be able to open Loopy loops directly into Samplr without having to go through a middleman app. Samplr is not in Loopy's Open In menu. I don't have AudioCopy installed, so when I use the the AudioCopy button in Loopy, and go to Samplr and hit paste, Samplr crashes.
I figured out that Loopy is recording m4a files, and Samplr requires wav files. So if I use Loopy to Open In AudioShare, use AudioShare to convert to wav, then Samplr appears in AudioShare's Open In menu. But this is a huge pain to do on the fly in a jam, and creates cluttered multiple copies of my loops.
My guess is that if I bite the bullet and reinstall AudioCopy that at least will automatically convert from .m4a to .wav when I click the AudioCopy button in Loopy, and let me paste directly to Samplr? Not looking forward to having to reinstall that, I prefer letting my copies just go to general pasteboard.
UPDATE - solution:
In Loopy, click Share > Audio Copy.
In Samplr, click AudioPaste, click the gear icon, click the word Paste in the new window that comes up.

for Audiocopy into Samplr - I found if i pasted directly from the first page Sampr crashed. But if you get to that page - and then push on the little gear icon in the top right corner - it will bring you to another page with a list of samples in Audicopy buffer ... choose the first file in the list and then it would import fine. Maybe not the best explanation - I don't have my ipad handy...
using Loopy -> Copy -> AudioShare -> Paste -> Open In -> SamplR isn't too bad imho
leaves the option to trim the intermediate in case it's not perfectly cut
(or rename it for archive/whatever)
with SamplR at the 1st position of 'Open In' (no wiping) it's fairly quick
cheers, Tom
Well I installed AudioCopy but realized/remembered from a long time ago - Loopy's "AudioCopy" button doesn't go to AudioCopy app, even if you have it installed. It always just goes to the General Pasteboard. Which is weird because it's icon for AudioCopy is the AudioCopy app's logo!
So even with the AudioCopy app installed I can't seem to get Loopy loops over to Samplr.
I had to go Loopy > Copy > AudioShare > convert from m4a to wav > Open In > Samplr. How did you bypass that conversion step? Not excited about all the extra copies of files lying around.
Nevermind. I was going Loopy > Open In AudioShare, and it was coming in as m4a. I did Loopy > copy, paste into AudioShare, and it came in as .wav.
Thanks! Still a bummer to require AudioShare in the middle....
Perhaps @supadom can help here.
Yea I just tried the same thing with the same results. I can never get Loopy to paste into AudioCopy. Dropbox seems to work pretty good for me as far as getting loops out of loopy into Samplr.
Exporting to Dropbox results in an .AIFF file, which pastes just fine into Samplr from Dropbox.
yeah, it's not perfect, but at least the conversion is done automatically - AudioShare is a smart a**
I only recently found by chance that the icons in 'Open In' can be rearranged, makes it much more convenient
cheers, Tom
Great discovery, if I make sure that AudioCopy app is NOT installed, I can copy from Loopy and paste into Hook. Great workflow to jam in Loopy build up a screen full of loops, copy/paste the good ones into a more organized clip launcher view in Hook
Nice! Just tried this here and it works aces...
Why do you have to make sure that Audiocopy is not installed? Does it somehow take over the copying process?
In Loopy when you click Share > Audio Copy (the button that has the Retronyms AudioCopy logo on it), the loop is copied to the general pasteboard and not into the AudioCopy app.
When you go to paste into Hook using their AudioPaste button, if you have AudioCopy installed, it opens that app, doesn't give you a choice to use general pasteboard instead, and your Loopy loop is not there.
However if you don't have AudioCopy installed, and paste into Hook, it pastes the Loopy loop from the general pasteboard. Probably unintended, but super smooth workflow between these two apps!
I wish I could come in guns blazing and bring a solution but as withe the rest audioshare saves the day.
It's not such a big deal to run it through AS as it then serves as a repository of samples. It also becomes second nature after a while.
I hope the import bug gets sorted in the next update of Samplr as that would be great to have for live playing. Sample on the fly in loopy then open is Samplr for mangles.
There should be a batch processing in AS though for multiple files.
your words in @marcos alonso eyes :-)
and heart.
plus LINK and MIDI pleeeease!
still hope marcos will develop samplr.

Maybe we should tell him to open a patreon account
Yea if everyone in this forum only gave him a dollar, that would add up quick. I wouldn't mind IAP for some of the added functions either.
I am in ;-)
If it's true that he got pulled into the Borg, money probably isn't the issue. Still, I'm in for a fundraiser if it'd help!
@Halftone For the WIN!!! This works!!! I'm marking this post SOLVED.
Just as you described:
In Loopy, click Share > Audio Copy.
In Samplr, click AudioPaste, click the gear icon, click the word Paste in the new window that comes up. Perfect!
Will bake cakes etc.
Great - what do I win?
Maybe he can delegate and just supervise it.
Yes, there is that workaround but Samplr will crash eventually when opening the Samplr menu. At least that was my experience.
