Import MIDI into Gadget?
I followed are recent video post for exporting MIDI from Auxy, and then importing it into Modstep, and it worked great!
Now I'd like to import the same midi file into Gadget, but I don't see an obvious way to do this. Is there a way to import MIDI content into Gadget?
Comments
I import the MIDI-file into Cubasis and then route it to MIDI-in into Gadget...
Press record in Korg Gadget and press play into Cubasis...
You stream it into Gadget, so a three minute song takes three minutes to "import"...
Eventually you can speed it up with temposettings into Cubasis/Gadget (or another midiplayer with MIDI out capabillities)...
Good luck!
It's cumbersome because sadly Gadget doesn't have an import midi or open in option so you have to open your midi file in another app and then record in Gadget
As far as i know, you also have to set up a gadget for each channel and set it to listen only to that channel through the advanced midi setting or you'll end up with all your midi in a single Gadget
I know lots of people want a sampler Gadget but honestly i'd be far more happy with a midi import function
ok, thanks! I don't have Cubasis, but will try to get this working with Auria Pro
Why do you want it in Gadget, is it to use the Gadget sequencer/piano roll or is it to use the sounds.
If it is for the sequencer, load ModStep with your already imported MIDI, load gadget and sync the two via Link, play the midi in ModStep, record it in Gadget (as described above in the Cubasis example) I think you will have to setup enough tracks and scenes to accomodate the midi you want to record in Gadget first.
If you just want to use the sounds from gadget, then load Gadget as an IAA in either ModStep or AUM (whichever is your personal preference) and send the MIDI to it from ModStep.
Don't forget to make several scenes in Gadget, though it only contain max 16 bars in every single scene...
I use to make alot and afterwards delete the empty ones...
And, also, deselect the loopbutton into first scene...
Both! I want to use the sounds, but would also like to continue to build and edit the track in Gadget, so thanks for describing both scenarios! I still have work to do getting my head around Modstep.
But wouldn't that only give you access to one gadget at a time? Or is this yet another case of me not giving Modstep a proper chance and thus knowing very little about it
You can control up to 16 gadgets, as long as you use the advanced midi settings in Gadget and set each channel to its own midi channel.
You then load gadget as an IAA in ModStep or AUM, use that as the audio channel, then send MIDI to Gadget from 16 other tracks in ModStep.
When you do get your head round it, ModStep is the only sequencer you will ever need
Nice. Thanks!
just make modstep drive each gadget. then record the midi. i'm the creator of the video btw lol.
Is this what the new midi improvement in Gadget allows? My goodness. Wow.
Yes.
