Midi-Learning ios Apps via DAWs

Is it possible for an ios app's parameters to be exposed in a DAW? I'm asking specifically about Ableton, but in general for others. It's no problem to midi-learn an apps available parameters so long as it can "see" the midi hardware - but for me anyways, there are many advantages to having the actual parameters exposed. In Ableton, by exposed, I mean using the Community Mapping (the little white triangle on a device that Unfolds the available Device parameters).

If you're already doing this, or have some equivalent workflow, or an idea to try out - please let me know! (Or also if it's just not possible due to some tech limitation).

  • Ok so I have read this post about 10 times and I am trying to figure out exactly what you are asking. I am familiar with Ableton but have no clue what you are referring to with Community Mapping. Of course I only have Ableton Live Lite.

  • I doubt it - the configuration mapping that you're talking about is (I think) specifically tied to the VST/AU protocols. I'm all but certain that someone would be able to make that sort of device with a Max 4 Live patch though.

  • By Community mapping I just meant the default parameters exposed on a device. 1st pic here shows Studiomux, 2nd shows some of BassStation's defaults. Given that StudioMux is an Au/Vst - was hoping this would be possible - or, if any other way of doing it...

I'd be happy to figure any way to get parameters into a Daw.
