Best app for surf guitar?

Auria, without a doubt.... :p Well, for mixing surf guitar anyway!

a little fun from our recording session last week, just a warmup for a day of tracking. Don't take it too seriously.

  • tight combo, if that was just the warmup... hell, what will be the real thing ??? B)
what kind of bass do you use ?

    cheers, Tom

  • @Telefunky
Ha! Thanks. We haven't played it in many years, but can't do that one too many times of you want to track anything else on the same day.

I used a Hondo short scale p bass copy, I bought it for my brother about 18 years ago. That went into a vt bass pedal and DI straight in. Obviously I wasnt going for a clean sound. ;-)

  • thanks, it really got me puzzled - there was something Precision-like, but it just wasn't a 'real' Precision ...
the pedal smoothes attack/punch somewhat on this record, but that may work well in a live-context
I like the bass tone on your tracks

    cheers, Tom

  • A bit metally for what I think of as "surf guitar" (Ventures, etc.) I think of clean guitar with lots of reverb. Very cool piece, though.

Yeah it's a bit on the metal side. Good though.

  • Man, that's all Surf and all Metal. I freaking love it!! Excellent work mate.

  • Haha! Yes, definitely on the metally side. The funny thing is that the guitarist hates metal. But I liked the energy of it, when we used to do it live he probably wasnt as distorted. Although when i saw Dick Dale play live his bassist had a sound like I got here, 2 dual showmans turned way up through 2-15 cabs. Beautiful!

Thanks for listening though, its just supposed to be a fun one.

  • Nice jam! Sounds more like the Cramps on a tighter-than-normal night than it does like metal to my ears.

If you guys decide to keep it, my only two cents is turn up the bass.

Really? Turn it up, huh? That could be arranged. Its not so much a matter of keeping it though, we were fooling around but no plans to withdraw this. We did write and track 4 songs during the week though. Luckily I'm not mixing them!
