Forum problem : Ipad screenshots no longer uploadable? " image.png too large " upload to test please
@Sebastian I no longer seem to be able to upload a screenshot from my camera roll .
"image.png too large"
Could other users try uploading here to confirm if this is a problem .
Is this a bug / mistake ? Screenshots are important to this forum .

You probably just need to resize them down. I use this app:
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/image-size/id670766542
I've had this same issue numerous times. Resorted to resizing my screenshots before uploading, but it would be nice to not have to do that each time.
Thanks for confirmation it's not just me , but when did this change ?
I'm sure it used to be possible to send directly from camera roll .
this will not help easy exchange of info if we have to faff around resizing
( especially for @Kaikoo2 & @richardyot tutorials )
what happened to AB philosophy of " streamlined , simple as possible "
Having constraint on allowable pic sizes in posts is not unusual in forums such as this - in fact most of the forums I have been part of have some sort of control like this, and quite often its around 500x500 pixels, considerably smaller than an iPad screenshot. While it would be nice to know if there is a restriction here, and if so, what the max size is, I don't where you could blame AB for it - on the contrary, it seems to me it be precisely in keeping with the 'streamlined' esthetic. Even 500 pixels is plenty big to see a detailed screenshot.
I meant streamlined workflow , & was initially just checking IF it is broken , as it used to be possible to send directly from Camera Roll with no intermediate apps/work .
Any number of graphic apps enable you to resize screenshots. It takes me less than half a minute to do so. For people who have many screenshots they want to batch process, I'm sure there are ways to automate the process. In terms of the overall effort and time needed to put together a post or tutorial, the time needed to resize screenshots is relatively inconsequential. A benefit of the smaller screenshot size is that it easily fits in the browser window as part of the posts. There are other forums where there are much more restrictive limits on the size of images in posts.
If these reasons aren't compelling for you, you can always ask the Audiobus developers to accommodate full size screenshot uploads. I have no idea, but there might be specific reasons why the Audiobus team have set the limits they have.
Resize is an option.
Also If you upload your file elsewhere you can just insert a link to the full resolution picture. (Which saves on Seb' and Mike's bandwidth costs, for what it's worth)
And I don't think the forum changed, did it? I thought this was only an issue with iPad Pro 12.9 screenshots which are higher resolution and go above the (same as always) limit.
Personally, I really like seeing full resolution screenshots, it gives a much better picture of what an app actually looks like.
@Htmx Standard Ipad Air 2 , last time ( couple months?) I tried it uploaded straight from
camera roll .
Max size "1048576 " the error message reads .
Do you mean In forum Toolbar ? where / how please , a screenshot would help
Oh, thanks. I didn't realize this applied to standard 2048 pixel images.
Sorry to confuse. I just meant you can resize it yourself (other apps) It is not a forum option that I am aware of.
I think the size-limit is there to avoid making the database grow to absurdity and also to save bandwidth and keep the site somewhat responsive. With fast internet connections this is not an issue but downloading many 4-5MB images on a cellular device with limited data-plan is no fun.
Regarding bandwidth I have no clue on how much traffic per month this forum generates but I suppose it's not 'free'.
What I think could be done on 'server side' is to automatically re-size the uploaded images and thus avoid frustration from the users.
Another 'problem' is that all screenshots on iOS devices are uncompressed PNG and there is no way on iOS to change the default screen capture format unless the device is jailbroken...
For the tutorials I've posted I tend to resize and annotate the images in Photoshop (on the desktop) and then save them out as 1000 pixel-wide JPEGs. That's enough resolution for a clear screenshot IMO.
There are a bunch of sites like this which can do the trick.... http://www.picresize.com/
some are mobile (safari friendly) others are not. not sure about this one but there are quite a few... https://www.google.ca/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=online+image+resizer
Given that this forum is provided as a free service but it costs the AudioBus team to host it, it's sensible that they would restrict file sizes. A full resolution screen shot is a really large file. Sure, it's a little bit of inconvenience to resize them but it's the least we can do to help keep this amazing free resource viable.
It's really too bad Apple doesn't have this as a part of the editing options in the photos app. I almost never want a full resolution screen shot for any purpose, not just this forum.
Does anyone know a re-size app that can be used as a Photos editing-extension?
(I've been trying to find one for quite some time now).
We're going to have a look at this, but I can't promise anything. Uncompressed iPad screenshots are huge. In the mean time recommend learning markdown code to embed images that have been uploaded somewhere else (imgur for example).
Is it working now? I just tweaked the upload size, and tested, and it's working for me.
Hi @Michael , well now I dont understand , whilst most of my screenshots still get error message "image.png is too large . max size 1048576 bytes " , the last one I took has just uploaded @594.3k ... so why won't the others ?
so new screenshots are uploading , but old ones arent . what have you done to my ipad @Michael ?
