Korg nanoKEY Studio Bluetooth problem

I recently bought the Korg nanoKEY Studio but I am having problems connecting it to my iPad Pro (iOS 9.3.3) via Bluetooth. I have followed the instructions and switched on Bluetooth on my iPad Pro and pressed Shift/Tap and Wireless button at the same time on my nanoKEY but the device doesn't list on Bluetooth devices on my iPad Pro. Please advise.

  • Download Korg's BlueTooth MIDI program. Turn your keyboard on to the Bluetooth setting and then open up the Korg app. You should see your keyboard there and be able to connect. Once you've connected the device will be available in other apps. Unfortunately you need to do this once to connect every time unless you're using an app like Gadget that has the Bluetooth midi connect dialog implemented.

    Thanks for the reply.

I have downloaded and installed Korg's Bluetooth MIDI program but I still cannot connect the nanoKEY to my iPad Pro. I select the Shift/Tab button and all the the pads flash except for the wireless pad. I then press the wireless pad while pressing the Shift/Tab but it doesn't work.

Can anyone tell me should all 8 pads flash when I press the Shift/Tab button? If so then I think I have a defective unit.

  • If you have korg gadget, open it and nanokey should show up.

  • I opened Korg Gadget and tried to connect via Bluetooth there but still I cannot connect via Bluetooth. I have also opened the setting in Korg Gadget and done the same procedure but it just won't connect.

  • Okay, I finally managed to get it working

    Thanks.

  • Lemme guess ... you had the switch turned to the USB setting? ;)

  • How do you rate it?

No I had it switched to the battery setting.

The problem was that I needed to switch the main Bluetooth on as well as the Korg Bluetooth midi app.

It's okay, I would of preferred proper piano style keys and a pitch bend wheel but it's a good compact tactile device.

  • It grows on you. I started off not liking it much but am now a big fan.
