DJ Player updates to DJ Player Professional which could be bad for you....

....if you're like me who had the old (removed?) DJ Player app with all functionality unlocked. I now have the very different DJ Player Professional app which interrupts the music every few minutes to ask for a paid subscription.
Hmmm, this doesn't sound right.

Deleted and reinstalled Traktor DJ instead. I like it just as much so I'm not as upset as I could have been. (unless something has gone over my head)

Just a warning to any users of DJ Player before you update.

Thanknfully I spotted that before updating.. I think that releasing a new app and pricing model would have generated much more goodwill than confiscating functionality already paid for.

That used to be my fav dj app. I won't be using that dev's apps again, sadly. :disappointed:

I had an odd thing happen, I read the post here and went to my purchased apps, to redownload DJ Player Pro, but found there were two apps: DJ Player Pro, and DJPP Legacy. Downloaded both, the Legacy version then appeared in my updates page. Updated it, (no subscription prompts). Open both, same app from what I can tell (same gui and tutorial at least).

Check your purchased apps page for the "DJPP Legacy" app, perhaps. I remember there was a nice deal way back when the app first appeared, a free upgrade to full functionality, and I guess after that another app was released...I really don't get it.

I'm so pissed off about this update...not only aout the change to a subscription based payment but also about the lack of communication about this in the update notes.Usually i used DJ player to try out new music when i'm on my way to a gig (not uing it on stage though) and i made the mistake that i didn't checked the new version before i went to the club last friday (a 5 hours travel). So i stumbled over this bullshit when i was on travel and this pesky update reminder every 3-4 minutes made it absolutely impossible to gave the new stuff a try.And i'm also not interested in supporting a subscription based model and ESPECIALLY if it sneaks into one of my payed apps like this one.A VERY questionable decision. And you can't even look into his forum anymore because now it's hidden for unregistered user (i wonder why...).I could log in with my google account in the past but now i need a new account first. Not worth the hassle,i,m done with it.Hope i can revert to the last version,i have the ipa somewhere.

oh,and while i was never a fan of his slighlty confusing interface, the new one is even worse imo...

  • yeah i agree @Crabman. I liked the old interface better (for my use at least). Like I said, I deleted it and installed Traktor which I got when it was free.
    oh well.

I might give Traktor or Djay a try, which i also got for free (both) but never used them because DJ player was/is so much better. And Traktor had no manual pitch shifting/beatmatching,that was another"no go".But as far as i can see, this is now the same case in DJ player...

  • Dayum, sorry to hear about the shitty update. I wanted to give the dev props as his app is the only one to play stems on iOS but unfortunately, getting stems into it is a whole other process.
