Mimix vs Mimix Mini weird decision

edited August 2016 in General App Discussion

Discovered that there is now also a Mimix version for iPhone (that you can use as well on an iPad of course) called Mimix Mini. Nice if you got Mimix that only runs on an iPad. In that case you need to spend twice the money if you need the iPhone version. My question is, why did the dev not make the iPad version universal or is there something peculiar with the iPhone version.

  • To pay for the cost of development of the small screen version would be my guess.

  • I love that AUM is universal.

I get your point, but wouldn't it be more logic to develop a Mimix HD version that is universal and put it just as a new app in the appstore, so you offer new buyers an app that can used to the max on both iPhone and iPad and have something that is more futureproof than?

That would be my preference as well. Some developers do it (Loopy comes to mind) but as can be easily seen around here, that'd upset a lot of current iPad users (or the dev would have to keep two versions concurrent anyway).

  • MIMIX for PowerHA replicates object types that are not supported by IBM PowerHA, as well as data associated with applications that have not been modified for IBM PowerHA. All data and applications are fully protected with the addition of MIMIX for PowerHA.

  • Buy both if you want to support development on IOS

In another thread "Audio apps you would like to buy but think are too expensive (overpriced apps)" there was quite some interesting discussion about prices of apps and I made my point clear about supporting devs and pricing strategies. In app purchases and donations (if you like certain apps) are in my eyes a more satisfatory way for dev and musician than having a feeling that you must buy 2 apps that do exactly the same thing on ipad and iphone.

I don't know if this applies to your particular situation but when I use an app on both devices I.e. Impaktor I simply buy it. These apps are about $6 each, you could do worse than spending $12 on something you actually use.

...and I say this without wanting to go into the app pricing debate.

There's also a workaround where you can just buy the iPhone version which normally also works on the iPad.
