Still no good mixing/mastering solutions for iphone

I'm surprised at this point no has ported any of the ipad mixing mastering apps to iphone or made them universal. The plus phones are plenty big enough and also audiomastering (by igor vasiliev) is the same basic layout as altispace and would translate very easily to a smaller screen. Are there any app developers looking into this? Many ios musicians I know use iphones not ipad and it would be amazing to master stuff on the go.

  • AUM is amazing for a mixing/mastering solution on iPhone. MiMix Mini isn't too bad either, but AUM is superior. It works with Audio Units, inter-app audio, AudioBus, Ableton Link, has sample playback support, some built in effects, an extensive midi routing table and keyboard, full AudioShare support (made by the same dev), and a whole gander of other features.

  • Just the question makes me smile - a few years ago, you would have needed a studio to master a track, now we're talking about doing it on a phone! I know it's not a new thought, but oh, how times have changed!

I'm certain he doesn't talk about mastering, but just make stuff LOUD
you cannot master 'on the go' because neither monitors nor room are with you ;)
in most cases not even proper cans - it's that simple...

    cheers, Tom

  • Why mix, why master. The Anniversary re-release, just put the rough cuts on disc 2 as demos & such.

Everyone listens on crappy Apple earbuds anyway... ;)

  • Between the Remaster app and whatever else you may want to employ in the chain one can go pretty damn far with only an iPhone in his/her holster. Hopefully you can tap into some true monitors along your on-the-go path.

  • For mastering you could use Lurssen mastering console. A little bit expensive but it has a great possibilities for mastering and available on iPhone :)

  • AUM all the way!

AUM is great for linking things together or adjusting different apps volume or audio properties LIVE or run thru audiobus into a daw or recording program of some kind. Currently using MultiTrack DAW by harmonicdog and using IAA to achieve things like pre/post EQ display, limiting etc. It's a clunky setup compared to cubasis. Just saying an updated multitrack DAW or cubasis port or final touch would be nice.

  • Btw AUM is amazing tho. I've been playing with it for live setups. Wish you could run output to loopy without having to go thru audiobus first. It kinda slows the whole thing down

  • Lursen mastering is universal,
