Wavemapper Update (080116)

Not clever enough to fully get what it means, but look forward to smarter folks telling me:

-Keypads with MONO mode
-MIDI and pads mode independent of each other
-MIDI VPC mode improved
-Audio recorder directly starts when voices are already playing (or HOLD)
-Audiobus 2.3.-User reported bugs fixed

  • WaveGenerator looks to have exactly the same enhancements too.

  • Question is: which one of Generator/Mapper is the better buy?

  • Hmmm. I was refunded for Wavegenerator due to it being quite buggy and unresponsive (really not ideal with those tiny parameter controls). I still love the idea of it, though.....as in, I covet a PPG.....so I wonder how stable this update makes it.

  • Wavemapper is lots of fun and very easy to come up with new sounds.

  • it's not even necessary to understand it... it just worx... o:)
one of the best sounding digital synths around, even beyond IOS
WaveGenerator features the same quality, but is more focussed on the classic wavetable approach

    cheers, Tom

  • been waiting on a sale for these forever to no avail, but knowing they are getting some love from the dev is making it hard not to grab one.... wondering which is the better way to go as well?

Exactly. I bought this first because of the ease, flexibility, and fun. Later, I bought WaveGenerator, and like also, but it's not as immediately accessible as WaveMapper.

They both have weird interface junk.

    Sounds like my teenage years.

As regards the choice; I would go with the Mapper as a more accessible option, unless you tend to the boffin end of the spectrum...

  • I was wondering why my iPad wasn't showing these updates and then I realized I had deleted both synths a long time ago. I loved both of them when they came out but found both tiring to program, each for different reasons. I always went to Nave for wave table goodness. I suppose I should reload them one day and see how it feels.

  • Both WaveMapper and Generator are fairly close in sound, it's just which route you take in programming the sound they differ, if you want a bargain tryout, opt for the iPhone MiniMapper, it's the smaller version of WaveMapper.

  • The random button on the map screen makes it interesting enough without having to deep dive into programming.

  • There's talk of a new PPG ipad app on it's way very soon which these have been updated to work with. Is it PPG Phonem I wonder?

Got to be, or something brand new.

Missing from MiniMapper is the parameter page, the ability to use your own samples and the sound grid is smaller, but most of the parameter tweeking can be accomplished via the extensive list of CC's, this also gives you some wild modulation possibilities. The soundbanks of Wave synths are interchangeable as well, though WaveGenerator ones don't always sound exactly the same.

    thanks

  • This update broke Wavemapper on both my iPads: No response to any of the parameters except for those in the 'set up' section.

    Arrrrrgh my beloved WaveMapper broken!

Need this fixing. Been so busy just playing the keys lately I'd not even noticed!

  • I have. Dead in the water. Please fix ASAP!

Send him email here: don't forget to thank him for being awesome, as well.

  • Already mailed him. Love this synth.

  • Saving preset changes the sound after making a random preset. Bug reported.

  • Eager for these fixes

Hmmm. Wonder if it will have any bearing on the new app due. Or vice versa...

  • Might be a moot point if WaveMapper goes AU later on and all works fine with that

  • Reply back. A fix has been sent to Apple.

Hans is on the ball :)

Can confirm: Hans is on the ball!

  • WaveMapper is sorted. Thanks Hans :)

  • Amazingly fast

  • Yes. Another good Dev. We are lucky with most of the Devs for iOS music apps. The vast majority are really good with customers service.

Only way to say thanks is to buy the new app when it comes out :)
