SoPrAnOtRoN and M3000

SOP is $7.99 and M3000 is $11.99

So....... For 3 bucks more, what would I get? Just for the Base app of the M3000, which includes_ M3000 : Free Voice_ for free.

I read through the descriptions of each, and it just isn't syncing in for me. I read in a previous post in 2014, the same year the last update was prior to yesterday :). That it is nice to have the Sopranotron as a separate entity to use outside of the M3000?

Looking to get one of these, I like the sound of the voices. I didn't know I needed it until I saw John's post at musicappblog, lol.

Thanks!

i think u get like 3 more vocal sounds if u buy it as an IAP within M3000, Soprantron has ten compared to 13 the other way, IF I RECALL CORRECTLY--but I only have 32gigs here so all these apps are currently uninstalled.

    They are both great though.

I didnt really answer your question but I am not being paid so eh

Sopranotron sounds are included in M3000 as an IAP so if you get M3000 sopranotron its completely unnecessary, the UI and the functionality of both apps it's completely identical, you don't win any extra functionality or control over the sounds with sopranotron (no extra sounds also) if you only want the soprano voices or if you want them separate from the other mellotron sounds then get it (but don't get the IAP inside M3000)

Edit: just checked the info given by @rhcball, you get 13 sounds with sopranotron and 15 if you buy it as an IAP on M3000(based on the description inside the app)
the fact that you get less sounds definitely make sopranotron completely useless ( as I said the UI and the functionality is the same, no extra features)

No, its called Caitlin Downie-english soprano and its not free.

  • Of course having both does allow the possibility of having them both running at the same time in AB.

  • So..... I read the manual on this thing, I had to download it as an ibook or what ever the hell that is. I got the free version of m3000 and bought the _Caitlin Downie-english soprano _ IAP.

I don't get the sounds? How to change them, how they are organized, how to view them?

There is the voice bank at the bottom of the little sound square in the upper right. Then 3 sound banks, or presets, or something?? tap the grey arrows to change to different voicebanks, and different sounds. I don't really think I am getting very many different sounds when I tap the grey arro. The name changes like from MmmSoft to Aah

Below is an older pic I think, there is only one window in the upper right now, not two.

But...I can't really hear us difference? Thoughts?
    Thanks

  • Make sure the ABC dial is turned towards the sound that you're changing. And ChordMode only plays the fourth (D) tone, if i remember right

  • edited August 2016

it's called Pad-Mode in the current version and stores a chord to a pad.
To activate it you select Pad-Mode on the front page, it flips to the 2nd screen.
Press the dim Record button In the bottom right, it will light up, then press a pad, it will turn red, play a chord on the keyboard, release and the pad will turn to blue to indicate it's in use. Repeat for as many pads you need.
You can play a chords on the pads and a melody on the keyboard then.
It stores only the note values, so content changes with sound selection.

The sound-D is accessed by a dedicated midi channel, to add another sound - otherwise it plays only 1 sound or a mixture of 2 according to the dial position.
It's a great app, very authentic Mellotron simulation.

    cheers, Tom
