audiocopy vs. audioshare??what is going on here?

i am trying to get a sample from audioshare, and copy and paste them into audiocopy 2, and then paste from audiocopy into gadget abu dhabi. however, when i copy from audioshare to audiocopy 2., the sample never shows up in audiocopy. am i missing something, or is audiocopy just buggy?

  • Audiocopy is 'buggy' piece of sh!#?#!?!#

In order for the pasted samples to show you need to quit Audiocopy.app and relaunch it again. It only seems to do a 'refresh' of the contents on innitial launch...

Too bad Gadget doesn't have a 'rename sample' feature yet...

  • Yep, I have problems with this too. A few relaunches usually wakes up the silly thing.

Wow... I never managed to make them appear after some relaunches on my side, but maybe I did not pay attention...

    ~~PS :
I know I should not, I know it's not constructive, I know I'll make some people unhappy, but I can't help saying it : Audiocopy is sh*t, it's one of the apps (if not the only one) that ruins the iOS music ecosystem by simply exisiting, and Retronyms have even made it worth since they maintain it.

I dream of an iOS music ecosystem built around audioshare !~~

I dream of an iOS 'audio/music eco-system' using standard iOS technologies for import and export. This includes 'Open In...', 'Sharesheet', 'iCloudDrive/DocumentPicker' etc.

    And please Developers...
Do us all a favour and boycott AudioCopy SDK!

i agree, it never seems to work right. id rather just use plain old general pasteboard instead of audiocopy 2 .Hopefully Gadget will update to include a direct from audioshare option, like many other apps have been adopting, so that audiocopy 2 can be bypassed all together. Retronyms needs to teach their apps how to play with other apps, before they push themselves out of buisness.

  • I uninstalled audiocopy app a long time ago, and just use the general pasteboard when audiocopy is the only oprion.

That is an option but for now my most used app (Korg Gadget) doesn't have an option to rename imported sample but once Gadget is able to do simple rename or import samples and export using either 'Open In...' Or 'iCloud Drive'it's bye bye AudioCopy.app...

cool i just deleted audiocopy and used generalpasteboard to get samples in. works nicely. thanks

  • I normally avoid 'app rage' dog piles but dammit Audiocopy is a tragically flaky dog pile in and of itself.

  • Nice that simply uninstalling it works in this situation though. At least Gadget recognizes the general pasteboard when that's all that's available. I never ran into the issue because I hang out here and knew better than to install AudioCopy in the first place. B)

  • Me too. Heard about AudioCopy and have never installed it on anything. The general copy works. There's also DropBox import.

Let's organize a virtual marching protest ... or even better let's kidnap the pokemons...

Yepp! But Dropbox is too dependant on constant internet connection and limited data-plans make it awkward to use. Standard iOS features would still be useable even when there is no network available, that's why I'm hope for a change...

    :D Yes....This...

  • @Samu @lovadamusic:

I dream of being able to do the exact same things that I'm able to do with dropbox (batch export/import of samples) but locally (directly on the iPad)... Is that too crazy to ask top the developpers ?

  • I pay for DropBox and am usually connected. It’s possible that normal file management and movement isn’t what the general iOS user cares about.

There’s some new universal clipboard in iOS 10, but I’m not sure what it does exactly. Whatever happens in the future, it’ll be Apple’s idea of what’s best and geared towards what iOS users do most of the time, which apparently isn’t what musicians do. If a third-party can make things better, I’m all for it but, in the mean time, I just make do with what is.

  • We do already have some pretty nice 'file-managers' for iOS but most music apps have yet to add support for standard iOS features making it possible to use these apps as source and destination for our import & export operations.

Filemanagers that can serve as iOS fileprovider and/or support importing and exporting using 'Open In...' fill most of the gaps we look for.

Audiocopy can still be present on a device but there is no need for apps to include the SDK as Audiocopy can import conetent sent to it using 'Open In...' and can also export using 'Open In...'.
(If Audiocopy app is installled it's impossible to by-pass it and only use general paste board in apps the use the Audiocopy SDK).

The standard iOS share sheet includes 'Open In...' for sending the conent to what ever app that supports the format the app exports.

  • I tried it without AudioCopy and I don't like multiple "General Pasteboards" in Gadget so I'm reloading it. In any case, I like to delete AudioCopy every so often to clear out whatever audio files have accumulated, which I can't seem to weed out one-by-one. Deleting it gets rid of everything in one fell swoop.

This is why Gadget needs a 'Rename' option in addition to the 'Delete' option, maybe swipe to the right to rename or something...

Too bad Gadget stores all imported samples in the root-folder that is acceible thru iTunes Shared folder and dosn"t yet support folders for imported samples.

  • I just downloaded an app called "Audioshare" by the same developer as AUM, I saw some positive reviews, I'll work on it today and report back...
