Anyone with an ICA4+, DRC, and 2 ipads to double check and reproduce a bug???

edited August 2016 in General App Discussion

Hello there,

This is the weirdest midi bug seen in a long time...
Watch this

I send midi from the first Ipad (without DRC launched on it) to the 2nd (with DRC launched) thru a midi interface : all works well.
But then I change into modstep the midi output to reach the 3rd iPad, (DRC launched, same midi channel, same sound) and here I've got ghost notes ! (you can hear it on the video)
The difference here is I'm using a sound card IconnectAudio4+ who is using a kind of "Studiomux protocol " to have midi other lightning cable.

So can anyone try carrying midi from an Ipad and other iPad which is running DRC, using an ICA4+ ???

All other synths I'm using from Modstep to other synths are working well, with or without the ICA4+, so I'm almost sure this is a DRC bug, but still very weird…
And as it almost impossible for the dev to reproduce this issue, I'm asking your help to confirm...
Thanks :)

  • Something even weirder :
Looks like if the midi track is played solo there's more note playing (still not all of them) , and if other tracks are playing, even on a different channel, different synths (really been careful with that) there very fewer notes playing...
It's like if the polyphony has being eaten because of the other midi tracks...

I don't use DRC or Modstep, but I do have an iCA4+ and have had a possibly-related issue. Check your MIDI routing within iConfig - it sounds like there is probably a MIDI feedback loop somewhere.

My issue was that I had my hardware synth connected to the DIN input and output of iCA4+, and for some reason iConfig automatically was sending that MIDI back into the synth. This was doubling up the notes in that the local keyboard was playing a note, but also the MIDI output was being fed back into the MIDI input so it was playing each note "twice". Some notes sounded an octave higher due to phase cancellation and it also halved my polyphony.

This was resolved by going into iConfig -> MIDI Port Routing, and making sure that "DIN" was not routing back into DIN. You likely have a similar routing issue.

  • @dtaki thanks I'll try that !
Not sure it would work as it's between the ipads, and other synths are working...This is just DRC, I've got no issue with other synths...
But I've got the other parameter ( midi between devices) activated, I4ll play a bit with that...

  • Hmm...It doesn't work, I had both options activated, so deactivated, same results...
But I'll post on Iconnect forum's maybe they know more...
In the meantime if someone has DRC+ICA4+ +2 ipads around here... ;)

    Well, weirder...

This is the midi monitoring of the 2nd iPad, so notes are well passed, but it doesn't play all notes...Seems more and more a DRC bug to me...

Found a workaround ! Using Apollo to relay the midi notes !!!
It's a bug from (the great and unique ) DRC AMHO.
