Why has my Auria Pro reverted back to standard Auria?

This is the second time this has happened to me and I'm furious. I upgraded to Auria Pro the day it was released and have enjoyed using the midi functions and Lyra etc since then. I'm now deep into a project and it was all going great. Took a break and came back to it just now. Switched back on to be greeted with a pop up telling me that I need to upgrade to Auria Pro......WTF?
My projects are still listed as files but won't load as I apparently don't have Auria Pro anymore. This very same thing happened to me on another iPad but I was fortunate to not have anything important on it. But I have two songs on this Air2 that I've worked a long time on. What should I do? Why has my Auria Pro reverted back to standard Auria. If I try to upgrade again will I lose my songs and my midi data?
I've obviously posted this on Auria website but I know there are lots of knowledgeable users on here too.

  • I think that if you copy the projects to your PC through iTunes, you can retrieve them after the update.

  • @AndyE Will in-app Restore Purchases bump you back up to Pro without disrupting your Projects? (I'm not sure if that's what you meant by "try to upgrade")

Thank you for your reply. I will try that first. So frustrating though. This kind of stuff saps any kind of flow or creativity.

  • The offending pop up.

You little beauty. That did it. I held my breath and pressed 'restore purchases'. Nearly turned blue. But it worked. Thank you so much.

Wow - sounds like a complete bummer. I think you did right by posting over Auria forum, hopefully Rim can help you out. My impression has been Rim had to jump through some hoops to make the upgrade work as an IAP - I think Proppa may be correct in his suggestion to restore purchases.
In terms of the cause - by any chance do you have automatic updates turned on in Settings/iTunes? From what I've read, those that upgraded via IAP still have the "regular" Auria icon, and perhaps iTunes can't tell the difference. I.e. iTunes updated Auria - and since Rim had to fake ITunes into loading a whole different app the store updated to the standard version.
However - hopefully you have some sort of pc about - I'd recommend using iFunbox to copy your projects off the iPad before restoring purchases. Just to be sure.
    Best of luck!

The funny thing is, I don't have automatic updates switched on. I held off on the latest Auria update because I didn't want to risk it with unfinished songs to complete. Perhaps the mere fact that there is an update waiting reverted my version of Auria Pro back to standard Auria as that was my original purchase. But surely it would happen to everyone that upgraded to Auria Pro via IAP.
Anyway, all's well that ends well as William said.

  • @AndyE glad you're back up!

  • I've read people complaining about so many issues with the Auria upgrade---all the fault of the App store. I'm glad I was able to wait and just buy Auria Pro when it became available. I imagine Rim must be sorry he ever made it an upgrade. So people could save a few bucks, it's been a lot of headaches.

Sorry I got to this late, but would have suggested the restore thing too - I've seen this mentioned as a fix before - seems to be a bit of a thing.

Thanks Monzo. I'm exchanging emails with Rim regarding the issue. I'll let you know how it goes.
