Yes. I route all my audio to ableton via the ica4+. Link helps me to get my recordings into ableton pretty spot on (max 8-9 ms offset).
I also control stuff in my idevice via modstep but send the recordings into ableton. I also use use korgs synckontrol on a different iPad to sync my volcas to ableton on PC. So link is pretty much a permanent part of my workflow.
Yep. Im going to buy ableton push when i get something sold and it might change things a bit and im still kinda figuring out how i should be using ipad with computer. But now(which seems to work)i route different audiobus channels to different tracks on ableton, use steinberg ur22 audio interface on computer and midi keyboard on it. Basically record midi to ableton(either played from keyboard or touchable) and it triggering different apps on ipad. Drum machine i have till now triggered from ipad itself. Been also using touchable for quite a while as a midi keyboard/drumpad and remote control.
Where I live, people who don't use Ableton have to drink from separate, smaller drinking fountains that use untreated water.
@rhcball really? Where I live people who don't use Ableton have to sit in chairs with thumb tacks on them. Guess it's a geographical thing.
I have my iPad on a focusrite dock connected to my MacBook Pro through a Roland audio interface. I use a launchpad pro as well as a Korg nanokey studio to drive either depending on what I'm doing. Circuit is connected through the focusrite.
In my area non -live users have to move to the back of the bus. They're also worth significantly less on the job market. Your must it must be geographical. It's kinda fucked up but c mon man. Just get on board with Ableton
My wife left me cuz I don't clip-launch.
Choose Live. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family. Choose a fucking big television, Choose washing machines, cars, compact disc players, and electrical tin openers. Choose good health, low cholesterol and dental insurance. Choose fixed- interest mortgage repayments. Choose a starter home. Choose your friends. Choose leisure wear and matching luggage. Choose a three piece suite on hire purchase in a range of fucking fabrics. Choose DIY and wondering who you are on a Sunday morning. Choose sitting on that couch watching mind-numbing sprit- crushing game shows, stuffing fucking junk food into your mouth. Choose rotting away at the end of it all, pishing you last in a miserable home, nothing more than an embarrassment to the selfish, fucked-up brats you have spawned to replace yourself. Choose your future. Choose Live... But why would I want to do a thing like that?
Tracking iOS apps in Live is a joy
Numbered for ease of response
1 iPad Air into alesis io dock 2, audio out put to either to interface or to sampler, kinda depends how I feel. Midi from midi interface, can be sequenced by either hardware or software.
2 right now mostly patterning sequencing ruismaker and iSEM, Animoog, nave, Thor, Mersenne and starting to scratch the surface with zmors modular.
3 god no, I don't really like most iOS sequencers besides patterning. Trying out cubasis for midi these days, and in theory modstep would be good, but I can't get it to be stable enough to use.
4 yes. Turnado, flux fx, effectrix, caramel. I am really loving the AUFX series, and the blamsoft AU effects. I almost forgot, borderlands granular! I love sampling stuff back into this one, results are almost always useful!
On the other hand I am really disliking the moog filtatron, it crashes and makes a really glitchy noise at random times, that guy is a goner!
We simply publicly humiliate non live users in my area! Must be a regional thing!
yeah, I always use it with abelton. But also use it when not connected to my computer. it is such a great way to link all apps together. Hats off to Abelton for starting and maintaining the iOS app connectivity infrastructure that is Abelton Link. It has definatly sped up my music making workflow. Now if we can just get Abelton to create an iOS slimmed down version of abelton Live, or at the very least a version of Abelton's sampler instrument for iPad. that would be very exciting.
Using Launchpad or Blocs in AUM could came closer
IMini and DRC are worthy synths in iOS, but nearly unusable in Live ( at least with Studiomux)
What is an Ableton?
Do the bigger fountains dispense Brawndo?
"its got electrolytes" lol
Performance anxiety, not just for tweeters anymore.
But can you water plants with it?
"it's what they crave"
Yup. Use Link on multiple iOS devices for live performance and direct control. Apps used: Bassline, Modrum, Seekbeats, Tweaky Beat, Patterning, etc. So simple apps that how simple control
Why do YOU always CAPITALIZE words in your thread names? And WHY are you always making THREADS that have some sort of POTENTIAL for HEATED DISCUSSION at the EXPENSE of a developer or company? Could it be because you THRIVE on instigating some sort of DRAMA? Does it give you some sort of SATISFACTION? Could you maybe STOP DOING THAT? Especially since I've asked to to MULTIPLE TIMES via direct message?
I rarely do this, but enough is enough. I don't tolerate people asking for drama. If Rustik continues to do that I'm going to issue a ban.
Since I'd like to prove what I'm talking about, here are some of the threads that Rustik has made this year with my comments for them thread by thread:
"MYSTERY TO ME": App you never quite grasped?
Why do you care? How is the outcome of this thread anyhting but 'whoah, this app could be cool but it really sucks because I don't get it.'
Basically developer shaming.
LINK: Do you actually use it with ABLETON?
Again, why do you care? Are you hoping that some people say that they don't even use Ableton? Are Ableton idiots for making Link? Is Link a failure because people use it mostly with other apps?
Again, nice potential for making Ableton look bad - developer shaming.
APPS: NO new ones or AUDIOBUS lately?
Translation: The sky is falling!!1 There aren't that many new apps released during a summer. Hint: there never are.
BLeeP BoX: Love, LINK or leave?
Developer shaming (leave because it doesn't have Link?).
Midi LINK Sync App: APP USES?
Translation: Maybe that app is completely useless, huh? Either way - what do you care? People are using it but maybe we can find people who don't and then talk about how it's not useful?
MIDI-CONNECTION ISSUES: You having any?
Translation: HEY, DOES ANYONE HAVE ISSUES WITH THEIR SETUP RIGHT NOW? Let's share them and wallow in how bad life is. Great potential for drama.
Not Anti-MODSTEP------ just PRO GENOME?
Yeah right, you basically already start out with a fake apology that immediately disses Modstep. Great.
LINK: Official Impact Study Thread
That one's my favorite: You pretend to speak for Ableton. It's not even a study. You're not an Ableton official. It's just a great way to get some people to say that it didn't have an impact. Haha, what idiots Ableton are. Developer shaming.
Has SAMPLETANK become obsolete in your repertoire?
Developer shaming. What do you care?
Cubasis: How is it treating you these days?
What do you care? Hoping for someone to say that it isn't treating you well?
ISSUE: Running out of apps to buy.......................
See thread about no new apps lately.
More Important: AUDIOBUS REMOTE or LINK? (closed)
I've closed that one because you're literally pitting two completely unrelated features against each other, hoping for drama.
Beatmaker 2: Wait for 3 or buy?
Simple answer: if you like Beatmaker 2, buy it. But I doubt that was your goal with that thread.
Propellerhead: [reasonable business decisions] (had to rename that because the title was already offensive)
No further comment needed.
What are REAL BENEFITS of AUDIO UNITS?(vs.apps)
Fishing for drama.
MODSTEP or KirnuCREAM : Pros Cons Yes No Either Or?
Pitting two apps against each other, fishing for drama.
