The Last Will and Testament of Walter Canterbury (new album from Doug Woods and Colin Powell)

edited August 2016 in Creations

The 7th album from Doug Woods and myself is now available!

Meet the late Walter Canterbury and his closest family.

Walter is dead but something is puzzling the Undertaker, who calls the Doctor, who calls the Police, who alert the Press!
What that “something” is, and who is involved, is for you to decide, dear listener.
Was foul play really at work? Was a family member or all the family involved? Or was it a fuss about nothing?

The tracks cover the events and characters in the days following the death of Walter Canterbury.
The framework of the story and its characters are presented as musical sketches for you to construct the story as you wish.

This album, our 7th, was completely produced on iPads using a variety of apps, plus real guitars interfaced to iPad.
For a full list of apps used, please see the individual track notes.

  • You guys are machines! 7 albums? I doubt I've even completed seven songs since your first one.

Great concept and congrats on the release. Haven't made it all the way though yet but the section from ~:30 to ~1:00 of "A Visit From The Undertaker" and "Walter's Brother - Solomon Canterbury" are highlights for me.

  • The first track put me in mind of a seventies tv show (which is cool)!

  • Cool! I think #17 was my favorite. Great work, guys.

  • Thanks for the feedback @syrupcore , @PhilW , @lovadamusic !

  • I rarely pay more than $10 for an album, and I usually try to get three for $25 when I discover a new band. But, my one exception is a high concept albums, and these albums qualify. Congratulations to you both. I just paid US$20.

  • Wow! Thank you so much, @johnfromberkeley  that means a lot!

It's almost worth it just for the song titles.

And hey, any music album co-produced by a former US Secretary of State is definitely worth checking out! B)

I'm lovin' it so far! Sounds like what early Genesis would be doing today if they didn't jump the shark.

Check out Steve Hackett's solo albums for that!

He's still making them! At the risk if name dropping, he's such a nice guy too.

  • He is. I met him on a Prog rock cruise in 2014. Very down to earth, and I managed to get him to sign my guitar (Agile 2000) as well. Steve Rothery (Marillion) also signed it. He's a good guy too. I wanted the third Steve (Howe) to sign it for the trifecta, but I never ran into him.

    Come aboard! We're expecting you!"
