Does ipad have enough power output to power it, or do you need to use powered hub? My friend has one, but i figured it wont work with ipad since it doesent have power supply input..
@ToMess yes it does require a powered hub, but I have my hub connected an external usb battery to give it extra power.
Blah. I was hoping i could use it with my ipad when at his place, and neither of us have powered hub Well maybe some day if i need to get one for other stuff
@ToMess If you happened to have a portable charger similar to this

and you got one of these cables

you could power it up. Just plug the one with the smaller cable into the battery and it should supply the extra power the Novation needs.
Nope. Dont have anything like those
Why the y cable?
The Y-Cable allows for additional power to be provided to the device. My External DVD-R came with a Y cable so that you can plug it into 2 separate usb ports, one is for power and data, while the other just supplies extra power.
I figured out that if I use a Y cable and plug that into my hub, I can then add additional power to the hub by placing an external usb battery on the powered end. I can then run multiple devices on my iPad as if it was a powered hub except I am not constricted to a wall outlet.
