Question about Cubasis

  • I take exception to you suggesting that BM2 is just a toy...

  • Hahaha...I meant Auria....and BM2, and Multitrack DAW, and... (hmmm, what other DAWs do I own lets see....hrmmm)... andyway, those are the only real DAWs...everything else named Cubasis by Steingberg is really just a toy...lol

In all seriousness. Love the app. It's very impressive compared to 95% of the other apps out there. Just thought I was buying my end-all-be-all DAW when I bought it and its actually not even on my iPad right now.

  • It seems to have found its way over here on to my iPad. It says you mistreated it and that it's happy here and doesn't want to come back ever...

  • I just want to warn you about that girl, Paul. You might put a lot of work into that relationship only to have her cut up all of your stuff and throw it out in the street one night. ;-)

  • At least we'll have made beautiful music in the meantime...

    Ahem, moving on.

It seems its actually easier than I thought to edit the midi. Touch the note, it turns black. Left hand touch the move/resize/velocity button and keep it there. Right hand can then go anywhere on the (expanded) screen to do the movement, thus avoiding the fat finger, where the hell is it manoeuvre that I have been doing

@Ian Exactly! It is easy AND precise. :-) I like it A LOT better than Meteor's way of doing things. Meteor is more full featured, but Cubasis is more elegant. :-) Right now, Cubasis covers the necessities, and each update makes things better and better. :-)

Edit: ...and I think your description of how MIDI editing in Cubasis works is better than my attempt to explain it (earlier in this thread). Those who are curious will benefit from your post! :-) It really IS EASY! :-)

  • OK, finally bought it and I am truly liking it thus far. Surely there will be an half off sale next week :-) . The MIDI editing works better than what I read in the manual.

The GUI seems a bit better than BM2, Meteor, Music Studio, etc. upon my first impression. There are a few quirks that I have to work out but I imagine it is only my infamiliarallity with the app.

Looks like I should be able to lay down a quick MIDI idea and edit it quite easily (as my timing skills needs a little work).

    Thanks for everyone's input.

  • Glad we could help! :-)

  • I was struggling with the midi editor in Meteor yesterday. Resizing and moving events isn't very easy or intuitive. I haven't checked it out in Cubasis, but that's the next step. I think an MCP function, like ACP for midi events, could be handy.

  • @funjunkie27 Yeah, I'm finding that having more features than everyone else is really handy, but if they are not easy or precise to use, it sometimes isn't worth the struggle. At this point, I have deleted Meteor and now only have Cubasis and Auria on my tablet. I LOVE the automation capabilities and IAP add-ons in Auria, and I LOVE the MIDI editing in Cubasis. Right now, I feel quite satisfied that I can do everything and more that Meteor can do (and do it better), than using just Meteor. I just look forward to the day when I can go back to using just one DAW. :-)
