Forum Classifieds -- Buy & Sell Trading Post?
This idea will probably be shot down, but I thought I'd at least bring it up. Any chance of implementing a classifieds section for audio gear? I'm sure there are plenty of people with unused controllers, cables, interfaces, and even iOS devices. Could be a good thing for the community... maybe even stir up the possibility of group buy discounts for vendor stuff. Just a thought.

Not a bad idea, imo. Could even be as simple as another Category.
I like it!
2 issues I foresee:
International userbase. Seems like the forum is strongly split between US and UK residents. Not that this is dealbreaker, but shipping overseas is not likely to be a good value in most cases.
Management. We would need a sticky clearly outlining rules and notice of no liability to AB staff, etc. Use at your own risk type thing. This works well on a number of other forums I frequent. People can provide their own references as needed (eBay feedback and so forth).
In its simplest form, it can be a single on-going thread that everyone who is interested in can bookmark. Rules and warnings could be set up in the original post (and edited as needed). I don't necessarily see a need for a separate category. This works well for several on-going threads over at KVR.
Added note: At KVR it has usually been a self-policed, self-managed two thread sort of deal. One thread for announcements only, and one thread for discussion of the announcements. There is also a third thread for purchaser feedback (For example: This seller was great and paid on time or this product wasn't as the seller described and he was slow in sending it to me, etc.) I think that if someone sets up three threads: Trading Post Sales, Trading Post Discussion, & Trading Post Feedback and if we all self-police things, it should work just fine. It will be one less thing for Sebastian & co. will have to worry about, and We can all easily access the three threads by simply bookmarking them.
Just my $0.02 (which isn't really worth anything these days). ;-)
I think PayPal would be the way to go. Thy do their own policing. As far as the international issue there could be 2 or more markets.
Yeah, transaction details (payment types, shipping, etc) would be up to the parties involved, and PayPal is usually the way to go, although it has its own drawbacks.
I don't think 2 separate classifieds would be necessary for different regions; but it would just be something to include in the post (shipping point of origin and rates for international shipping, if offered at all). Then it would be up to the buyer to decide if they want to pay that cost or not.

LOL
Eh?
Am I wrong or did I miss the joke?
@jesse_ohio I didn't mean 2 separate classifieds, just more than one market region.
Can you guys link me to the KVR threads, please? I'd like to see how 'civil' things are over there before we make a decision on this.
OK Sebastian, I'll find them. Basically, there is a thread for Bargains announcements, a thread for Bargains talk, and another (less used) thread for posting about those who you have purchased from (Feedback). It has stayed pretty civil and pretty well self policed.
OK, here they are:

Bargain Center (Bargains ONLY; NO Gossip / Chat)

Feedback Thread

You will notice that the threads origination date go back several years, so these have been going on for a LONG time and have worked successfully. :-)

Thanks a lot. I will talk about this with Mike and we'll make a decision about this.
We could implement it as another category.
Fourth one for "Wanted"? Or mixed in with Sales?
@dwarman Good point!
I think this is a great idea...I dont want to touch eBay and I dont want a paypal account...but I have stacks of gear to sell and we are always looking for a bargin..the issue has always been one of trust, as most of us are here most of the time we kinda all know each other...however shipping outside the UK is expensive and I would imagine its the same from elsewhere, and then there is the matter of import duty....however internal sales are a doddle if you trust the seller and the buyer..
Here you go guys, I've made a Market Place category.
You rock Sebastian!
Let's not make him regret this decision peoples
