AudioBus Remote app w/ tempo control?
This is probably a real longshot, but is there an AudioBus Remote app that includes a tempo control? That is, in AB remote, I want to adjust tempo faster or slower--and the app has to support Link.
Comments
If there isn't, someone should make one
None of the Apps featured on the AB Remote AppStore page seem to show such a feature though
Yeah, maybe we're in the minority but I see the need for some way to control tempo in a live situation.
An even better solution would be a set-list maker that allows you to build a set of patterns/songs and assign a tempo to each one. As you cycle through the set (maybe via MIDI program change), the tempos change accordingly. Gold star to the dev if they allowed a smooth "ramp up" or "ramp down" between tempos as the songs transitioned. Add AB Remote controls and BOOM!
Couldn't be that hard to code this app, could it? @SecretBaseDesign: what do you think?
+1
I've been thinking about supporting set lists in Infinite Looper, with the ability to have a MIDI learned trigger to "load the next song in the list." It wouldn't have ramp up and ramp down tempo, but would allow switching tempos....
Adding a tempo control to Audiobus Remote sounds like a great idea!
@Sebastian please
In the meantime only thing I can suggest is this

App store listing doesn't mention Link, but that page does.
Could flip between it and Remote, or any old iOS device ought to do
Sounds like the concept I'm looking for, but I loop audio, not MIDI. So I'd need some way to send MIDI CC's, I guess.
Hmm, I'll test that, looks good ! You may also use Launchpad for iPhone, the tempo panel is really easy and ergonomic, increment by 1 bpm, so in a live situation very clear and nice...
Problem here (with SyncKontrol) I see at the moment, is with the knob you might be not as accurate with just a - / + like in Launchpad.
Problem with the Launchpad app : not midi controllable (but it's the same for all apps I know atm handling Link, and I don't see a way to have no clips loaded (for iPhone version...) y default.
I think literally any app could add a plus or minus button to their Audiobus remote buttons. Probably something to ask Oliver Greschke of Elastic Drums or the creator of Patterning and other drum apps for.
@Sebastian in my case, it's not very useful atm, but I see a nice usage to increment/decrement tempo into Remote, while switching pattern into ED (for instance) all that on the same panel...
That would also giving back more interest using Remote....
Seems like a logical function for Modstep, considering that tempo changes are already possible with it by MIDI CC, and it only has a play button in AB:R so far.
Technical question: would it be possible to implement tap-to-tempo in an app's audiobus remote? How about slide left/right? I'm thinking the answer is that the button press timings wouldn't be accurate enough over the remote connection. Even if it were, it seems like the sort of thing that remote ought to implement locally, and once, so that app devs don't need to. A really great multifunction tempo control like the one in Loopy embedded in remote would be a really nice thing
Please, please, please
You mean an app like Setlist Maker?

I've been using this live now for some time specifically to manage Setlists, Midi PCs and tempos for each song. Pretty strong feature set.
