For Anyone Concerned: The Coming Beatmaker 3 is.. Edit: The Developer is here answering questions!!!
Just an FYI for those of us who use iPhones exclusively. Disappointing...... :-(
Comments
All is not lost though. The iPhone version will be a separate version and come at a later date. Yay!!!
U said "a later date" haha!
Bummer for me.....at least it's going to arrive eventually. :-)
still quite happy with BM2, will likely remain in my arsenal.
Universal would have been nice but at least there's going to be a version for the phone.
Boo, taking off the wishlist
This is regressive given the current trend
I can respect the devs who do an iphone only version for a lower price, but make the iPad version at higher price universal, and make a bundle for those that start with iPhone version to upgrade for the same price. This is the proper way to do it. That sort of arrangement is a clear signal that the dev cares about their users. Split apps is a negative indicator. One that, at this point for me, is enough to relegate the app to dismissed out of hand.
Make the app great and charge commensurately.
AUM is worth every penny of $20
At this point I'd rather buy one more app that was just really great than 10 that end up in the rubbish folder.
Don't have BM2... Am defintly buying BM3..
Anyone know the release date?
It's fine by me. It's not like the whole UI will change to fit the iPhone perfectly with just the press of a button and the workflow for the small screen will solve itself magically.
No complaints from me.
Definite bummer for me but I understand the reasoning. Or at least I can come up with reasons that make sense to me.
Have BM1 and BM2 and ultimately don't use either of them because of the convoluted workflow. Going to wait for lots of videos explaining how they have improved for version 3 before I bite again.
Hi there !
To clarify, BM3 will be an universal iPad/iPhone app, just like BM2.
Users shouldn't have to pay two times for the same app anyway.
Cheers,
Mathieu.
Great news!!! Thank you!!!
But will it require 1GB, or whatever it needs for 2. I'd buy it for the iPhone if the samples are a separate download.
Awesome!!!! Case. Closed.
I think I read in the past that it's going to be a separate download.
convoluted workflow? WOW to me there is nothing better on IOS and I have been making beats back when there was no computers lol. I know my way around. I think is needs improving ALOT but nothing comes close in my eyes.
I really hope BM3 will have support for iCloud Drive (So we can easily Import & Export from/to AudioShare among other things). This is about the only thing I miss in current BM2.
I've gotten used to saving stuff in the right place from start since moving files/folders is a real pain in the...
The 'sample editor' still has a pretty awkward selection tool where it's very easy to loose the selection when scrolling around when doing precise selections (the selection start/end should really have handles and not be moveable by other than the handles!).
I wish also that the beat-pads and 'normal' instruments could be 'merged' similar to what BeatHawk does (easy to switch a pad/sound to piano keys and back).
I trust Intua(@mathieugarcia) will do the right thing here...
Looking forward to it. And just realized I will have to make some room on my iPad for this. Where will my exterminating finger land? My apps are shaking in their icons.
We realised that bundling a large soundbank with the app is not convenient at all. This time, we'll have a different approach to it and keep the main app way lighter.
There were definitely some issues with the workflow. I think we got something way more streamlined now.
This is also one aspect we wanted to improve, file management and sharing were pretty "old fashioned". As for the pads, I think you'll be pretty happy with the new concept. Can't say more though!
Cheers,
Mathieu.
Thank you!!!
Back to being really excited!!
Christmas please.
@mathieugarcia What time frame are we looking at for the universal app to support the iPhone?
You should buy ipad, or at least an iphone with bigger memory if you plan on doing anything else than listening music on spotify, call and text with it..
@Samu: I see you use iCloud.. Do you prefer it over Drop Box? (Despite the recent hack)
will beatmaker 3 be able to create sequences of different tempos and different time signatures in on one song?
I don't use iCloud for 'storage' I use the iCloudDrive the feature(ie. iOS-DocumentPicker) to save/open my files directly to/from AudioShare, DropBox, GoogleDrive etc.
There is big 'mixup' that iCloudDrive is the same as 'iCloud' which it's not!
iCloudDrive is just a technology to access 'cloud services'(Google Drive, DropBox, iCloud etc.) or local resources that use the iOS-FileProvider Extension to share their files.
So for example AudioShare 'shares' it's files using iOS-FileProvider.
Those files can be accessed directly by any app that uses the iOS-DocumentPicker(also called iCloudDrive).
I know it can feel 'confisung' until it 'clicks'. After the 'click' it's like wtf why don't all apps use this!
yeah, it's a great feature, and I wish all apps used it.
