Recording issue with AUM

Greetings,

I've enjoyed using AUM, and yesterday was my first time trying to recording using it. I created mix channels for: Sessionband Jazz, Sampletank 2, Korg Module, and Soft Drummer. I used the record feature in AUM. Afterwards I opened the file menu and saw 6 files. Each one had only the audio for that app. How do I record the mix of all apps at once?? Sorry for the Newb question....

  • Hi try sending your channels to the same mix for example "Mix to Bus A" then in your last channel
for input select "Receive from Bus A" and record the output.

  • The flexible but simple routing in AUM is its beauty. Sometimes you may want all of the individual tracks, but sometimes you want a full mix, it's all easy to do.

Mildly confusing image to a self-proclaimed "newb"! It would be more visually comforting if Mixbus A (with its reverb affecting all the tracks) was on the far right. It doesn't matter, of course, but for those of us with OCD....

So in your file section, if you were clever and named the Session (say, "Autobahn Part 2"), then in the RECORDINGS section, all the tracks you elect to record will be put in the appropriate folder. (That way you don't have 23 files jumbled together named "Ch. 1-108bpm." Also, when you open the session, the apps will load automatically.) And then, if your last track is your mixdown bus, you always know that the highest number in a collection of tracks is the master.

Point taken, however that was a bit on purpose, as I have been confused in the past and keep things in rigid order when I didn't have to. So, showing some of that flexibility was the intent, and I'm certainly too lazy to move my channels around for a screen-shot.

  • Thanks guys, I appreciate your posts!!
