Battery use for products like Apogee Jam and irig hd?
So, curious. These products and those like em use the ipad battery when using? Say I have 45% battery left on an ipad air 1. 2 year old ipad. Gonna jam with Bias FX. How long do I have to Jam? Or record into Auria or Cubasis?
Thanks!

I've got an Air 2 that's about 1 1/2 years old. The other day I was recording guitars with my Apogee Jam in MultiTrack DAW for about 2 1/2 hours straight. Power went from 100% to 60%.
To my surprise, my iRig HD barely seems to affect battery life at all. I usually burn out before the iPad does.
I was concerned about that though, so I picked up the Apple charging camera connection kit. Unfortunately, plugging a charger in introduced bad AC buzz. Solved that by powering it with a battery backup. I could probably do an all night jam session with no worries other than passing out now.
The ILoud interface is the same. Both the speaker and the iPad can easily go for hrs. At a time. Four or five hrs is easy for it even at loud settings.
oops! Sorry, responding to quickly today while doing too many things at once.
I was referring to the iRig Pro.
Thanks for the answers/input guys! I ordered an irig HD. My iriffport has a bit of a connection issue with the headphone jack portion of it. Works sometimes, and sometimes I get a god awful squeel. A little jiggle makes it all better, and if I stay real still it works as it always has. It doesn't use any ipad battery so that is why I was curious.
The line in still works on my iriff, so if I'm not using headphones, it'll work perfectly.
My line 6 sonic port seems to drain the battery quickly, other times not so much. I think it depends a lot on the screen brightness. I just got the griffin studio dock and a 30 pin to lightning adapter ($23 total for the two! Amazon for studio dock, eBay for 30 pin to lightning, abs I made sure it was really an apple one before purchasing) and used it on my gig on Saturday night. It worked great, iPad was at 100%, there was a tiny bit of background noise, but just slight. I play bass, so not having a lot of high end and not using much in the way of high gain pedals kept it usable, I just threw a noise gate at the front of the chain for when we were not playing. But the battery backup is a good idea, that way im not plugged into the ac.
Does anyone have a recommendation for a good battery backup that will serve that purpose?
The band leader asked me what I had done with the bass that night because he felt it sounded really great and was surprised when I told him. The bass packs in tone stack are very very good, and as I dig into them more I'm really finding a lot to like. The bass compressor in particular sounds fantastic.
Ya, I got one of those griffin docks as well. And....... I like it. I was a bit put off by trying to figure out how to achieve the best sound of it. Meaning, there is the lit up control knob on top, and the control knob on the right side as well.
I think lit one is volume control for headphones? and side one is gain control? I find if I have the gain control up about half way, maybe just a hair past, this is the best tone for myself, with my Fender strat and my Les Paul. Anymore, and it sounds too distorted, any less, and the full signal of my guitar doesn't make it through.
The volume control, is a bit fiddly. Very very sensitive. And like...eternal. I need to roll it around until I find the spot where it is the loudest, but if I go past it, then sound drops down. So, I need to roll the dial some more and find the loud spot. It seems a bit like a loose connection as well? If I tap the dial, it can cause sound to sound static-y.
I like the griffin, but it just is....fiddly. Maybe I have a faulty unit?
I have the Griffin studio connect with lightning which works without those problems you mentioned. I must say though, I have not used it lately after picking up the ILoud because it has an interface built in for my guitar.
you talkin this thing? https://www.amazon.com/IK-Multimedia-Portable-Personal-Speaker/dp/B00BIPL8Z2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1473254718&sr=8-1&keywords=iloud+ios
That looks like a nice little piece of equipment.
I'm tempted to get another studio connect 30 pin to see if I have better luck with it. But I don't want to run into the same issues. They do make very nice ipad stands for sure. And.....For 13 bucks, it cheaper than a lot of the ipad stands out there. Plus it does charge my ipad when using it.
Wow, that iloud speaker/amp is damn cool. If I had 200 bucks I get it.
I was using the line outs (rca) on the back, so the volume knob has no effect.
Yes, that is the one, and I have seen it as low as 189 dollars.
