Gadget universal one-ness samples

i made a user sample set in Bilbao on my phone but when I boot up gadget on my new iPad Pro the user list is empty. Figured that maybe I export the song and can open that and it will have the Samples but can only see exporting a track or a mix. What am I missing?

  • Korg still has 'homework' to do when it comes to project sharing between devices...
At least they should implement a 'sync' of all user-content (Projects and Samples) between devices.

Last time I checked there was a request about this over at the Korg forums...
Korg devs are sometimes active on Twitter so it might be a good idea to notify them about this once again :)
(I'm unfortunately not fluent in Japanese as it seems to be the preferred language and gets faster response that other languages).

  • Thanks. Wow. Floored by this. The whole point for me about universality is tweaking and doing stuff while waiting in line or whatever and then continue in the larger screen at home etc.

Once you import the samples on the iPhone it will work. My workflow is to put the samples into DropBox first, then import them to the iPad and make my Bilbao preset. Finally, I import the same files on the iPhone (keeping all the names the same). At that point the project plays fine.

But then again I have good internet bandwidth so the Dropbox upload/download is no big deal. Your mileage may vary.

  • Ok, so I was able to save the projects and open them up in the iPad. First hurdle over. ...but I am not getting the imported samples. The pattern scrolls but nothing sounds since the user slot is empty. I am using Dropbox, i pulled the samples directly from Dropbox into the Bilbao slots and saved my user preset. Do you mean I should download into the ipad itself from Dropbox (into what? iTunes?) and then from that into Bilbao?

  • Import the samples from dropbox to both devices.

  • Open up Bilbao, then touch the Samples button. Touch import, then Dropbox. Find your samples and import them. You should now have sound coming out when you play the project. You don't need to mess with the preset, just import the samples.

Everything but the samples is synced between the devices by Gadget. You just need to get the audio files over to the iPad.

  • Yah I don't get it. I still can't iCloud my tracks for the life of me. Stupid arrows... stupid arrows mean nothing... stupid arrows... :(

    • Make sure you save the project after you touch the little cloud thing.
    • Make sure you are on the same iCloud account on each device.
    • Make sure Background App Refresh is enabled in the settings for Gadget
    • Make sure your device is set to allow Gadget to access Cellular Data if your phone isn't connected to wireless (or wait until it is).
    • Give it some time. It can take awhile. At least it seemed like it at first, but now my projects update quickly once I save them on either device.

Yes sir! Thank you sir! <salutes, turns, runs to ipad with arms waving like Kermit the frog>

  • Thanks win. I guess I got as far as I can get. Just got to set it up exactly the same.
