"App" Would Like To Access The Microphone

Just had a thought.. I really hate the ridiculous feedback you get when unplugging an iOS device from audio interface. If we choose 'Don't Allow' on this, anyone know if the app will still receive sound correctly from designated audio interface inputs? (I'm thinking AUM). I don't use the internal mic at all so could just do this across the board to eliminate any chance of feedback when unplugging.

Will test it myself and report back but just wondering if anyone else has experimented with this before and has some insight.

This drove me mad for ages, I would not allow access to the mic to stop getting background noise from audio tracks that were set to monitor (why can I hear the TV, I've got my headphones on LOL)....and then spend ages trying to figure out why I could not get audio into Cubasis.

I think the message should read 'Allow access to audio input devices'

  • that was a common experience when this (security) feature was introduced.
By default microphone access is blocked and has to be enabled per app and external interfaces are treated just the same.
The backgound isn't musical at all: an app might relate talking to some search results and analyze the audio stream of the internal mic.
