Gadget MIDI import
Nice added feature
Comments
Very useful feature to me. I imagine it's Type 0, single track.
For mortals this means what?
i don't know what Type 0 is, but tracks come separated and cut into 4 bar sections. Not bad.
Still no Audioshare SDK or renaming of user samples.
Pretty sweet, i just downloaded some from here to audioshare (which can actualy play them, whoda thunk!) and then copied it to dropbox for importing into gadget. Neato!

I waited so long for this feature. But Gadget doesn't appears in other apps as Open-In-destination for MIDI files As usual Korg fails on the details.
I feel we'll see iCloudDrive/iOS-DocumentPicker support instead and it will also give us access to AudioShare...
This is fantastic
It's the one feature i've missed the most
Brilliant
For now, it's iTunes and Dropbox only but it's such a great feature
Is that correct? I've tried a couple of midi files and it seems to cut the file up vertically into 1 bar sections, which isn't ideal (I like to have a 4 or 8 bar section as one horizontal scene for arranging).
Does anyone know if it's possible to combine one distinct midi region with another? Unless I'm missing something the only options are copy/paste, which overwrites the existing data in the region.
Much as I like audioshare the document picker route is the way to go I think.
Midi import is a nice addition, would have been even nicer if you could import/export midi clips directly into scenes
That's my experience as well. It breaks them up into 1 bar sections. As far as i know it's not possible to combine regions since copying them overwrites the region and copying notes only works inside the region they're copied in
Still downloading the update (super slow internet today). But I will give some GM-Midi files a test-run.
I mean the Marseilles Gadget has almost a full GM-Serup apart from 'Drums'...
Who knows maybe the midi-import is a sign of a coming 'GM-Gadget'
In an SMF, type 1 has each part on a separate track, whereas SMF type 0 merges all parts to a single track. In practice differing midi channels can be represented as different tracks again by the reading software, and as type 0 is the most universally readable and exchanged form, it has become the default choice. Most SMF reading software would initially assume the SMF is GM and has drums on channel 10.
You are correct. Mistyped it, but that's what I was getting at, sorry to say.
The four bar per scene is like going back to classic old 'Tracker-Style' arrangement where the pattern limit was 64 rows ie. 4 bars at default LPT(Lines per tick).
No open in gadget showing anywhere and Dropbox keeps giving me a 400 code error , whatever that might be
Are you importing from inside Gadget?
It's in the Gadget menu
Yes I know but it says from drop box or iTunes and when I choose Dropbox and the file I get an error . I think the problem may be the size of the midi file is more than four bars?
Could this be ralated to to recent DropBox password change policy and that you need to 're-link' DropBox to Gadget?
The import handles long midi files and chops everything into 4-bar scenes.
If the midi-file contains held notes that span longer than 4 bars they will 'stop' after the first 4 bars...
How do I re link?
Log-out and log-in again.
Thanks I'll try that.
Still no luck !
Must be something else. I imported a 5 track, 32 bar midifile earlier from Dropbox with no issues
@Tritonman I'm having the same issue
The chopping thing is quirky, but I don't see how it could have been done any differently considering their overarching concept. It does beg a new feature, though. I find myself wanting to press-hold to drag one clip onto another and append it. I suppose you could get real clever and drag whole rows, appending each track automatically.
Remember good ol' Chordbot? That lovely multipart chord progression generator that has MIDI EXPORT? Yeeaaaaaah boy!
My sentiments entirely.....
Firo, too.
I used a sort of workaround for midi files which you don't know nothing about. I dl a midi of Stairway to Heaven (8' full song, 14 tracks) and opened it in Logic. Now Logic assigns the parts rather correctly. I then changed the setting of the 14 tracks that Gadget opened with default Marseille. Not the ideal thing, but can work
