Kong iM1Bug : Can't write when keyboard is attached to iPad - Can you confirm?

Howdy...

Can anyone else confirm this?

It appears you can't 'write' to a user or library card when there is a keyboard attached to the iPad...

If I remove the keyboard and tap on the screen, the write is completed when I close the keyboard...

However, if I attach my Apple Keyboard to the iPad, and use it instead, then I can't seem to ever get the write to finish... Nothing is written...

Can anyone else confirm this for me?

Thanks!

Best,

Ben

  • Write with a keyboard attached works for me. I just tested it saving to a user card in program mode.

  • Huh! Very odd... Ill try a reboot and see if that helps..

  • I had this exact same issue when using a BT keyboard. BT Keyboard also caused problems when saving iMini presets. I stopped using the BT keyboard, it just acts as a stand now.

I find it complicatedly confusing just to save/write patches on their own, irrespective of a keyboard....seem to have a blindspot with this thing. Great app however....

I think it has something to do with it saving the name when you close the keyboard...if you have a bt keyboard the on-screen one doesn't appear, so you cannot save the name....on close of keyboard to save seems like an odd way of doing it.

  • Then how is StudioAB getting it to work? Very frustrating indeed! At least I'm not crazy and others are having the same issue... I'm using the Apple Smart Keyboard Cover...... which is great for entering names... But when I hit return, nothing is saved. There is a small 'keyboard bar' that appears with the copy and paste icons, and a 'hide' icon, but the hide icon doesn't seem to trigger the write either...

This is on a 9.7" iPad Pro....

  • Maybe it's the 'Done' key on the onscreen keyboard then. I messed about with this loads when iM1 first came out, which was a while ago now, so my memory on this particular thing is probably fading :|

  • I agree, the write process is messed up... Mostly because the section of the owners manual that talks about writing is clearly from a different product, as it bares no relation to the iM1... Maybe I'll make little video about how and where to write patches... :)

But that doesn't help with the SmartKeyboard issue... :(

When you said keyboard, I interpreted that as midi keyboard, which is what I tested with. Sorry, i don't have a BT typing keyboard to help you replicate that setup.

  • That makes sense... I said "Apple Keyboard" in my 2nd sentence, but was very ambiguous in my opening sentence...

So it looks like it IS an actual bug... :( Well, at least I'm not crazy!

  • I did report it to Korg, I guess not enough people reported to make it worth them fixing it. Perhaps now people have the pro and Smart Keyboard it may be able to get up the priority list.

  • I reported it too.. Not holding my breath, tho...
