Audio & Midi Interface for my iPad Pro
I'm looking for something that probably doesn't exist, but I thought I'd ask here to see if I have missed any options.
I'm looking to get a device which is an audio interface for my iPad, including a midi interface (similar to the iConnectAUDIO4+). I would love for this device to be built into a controller keyboard, and I'd love that keyboard to have an array of sliders, knobs and drum pads. In a perfect world this would be a single device.
I had a Novation Ultranova, which was close to what I wanted but it didn't work with the iPad.
Ideally the device would have multiple audio in's/out's and multiple midi in's/out's (as well as the ability to host USB midi devices).
Also, is there a good and up to date list showing iPad compatible audio and midi devices to browse?

I just got the ik multimedia iRig Duo Pro, I had an issue but I updated the firmware and it's great now.....
K Mix by KMI ive heard is ios compatable seems to do a lot audio interface and mixer.

I'd say the closest is a k-mix with a controller keyboard.
How about Novation X station?
Haha, sweet! I can replace my Atari 2600 joysticks with this!
Im actually designing a iPad Pro work station using two iPad pros and audio interface and a mac mini and midi controls also fader controls.
Manufacturers were making combo midi controllers with built in audio interfaces for a minute, about 5 years ago. Novation, Akai, Line6, Roland. Akai even made one with a built in ipad holder. Then they stopped. Maybe no one bought them? It's really too bad for electronic musicians, because it is great for live performance with soft synths, and being extemely portable. It might be worth looking for a used one of these, but you'd have to watch like a hawk to see if they remain compatible with current ios. The akai one, I believe, only worked right with their synth app, had midi incompatability with other ios stuff.
Now you'll need a usb audio interface, usb midi keyboard, a powered usb hub, a power adapter for the hub, 3 usb cables and a camera connection kit.
The iconnect stuff is good, and eliminates the hub, and a couple cords, at least.
Hello, this seems to be an older thread. But what is the situation now? I am looking for in Interface for my iPad. Currently I use a KORG PlugKey, which is great for what it does. But it lacks in many areas and I would want a rather full featured device better. Sooo... I was looking around and something is always missing from the devices that I have found. What I basically want is:
Any ideas?
Thanks, Doc_T
Edit: Just found the Roland Rubix22. It has everything I need. It has two USB ports, one for an external power supply. I did not find any information, if it powers the iPad if connected to external power. Does it?
Edit 2: Just asked my dealer and he said nope, it does not power the iPad. An iConnectivity iConnectAudio2+ Interface does this, but only if you also buy the external power supply.
Edit 3: And I read that the iConnectAudio2+ has issues with different iPad models and iOS versions... hmmm...
Really? The only device in the market that does this?
The specs say it can be powered by USB from the computer, but if you want to be portable i'd get yourself a portable battery with 2 usb ports to power this. One to power the interface via micro USB and one to power the ipad via Lightning cable and Apple Camera Connection Kit. Then you may be able to use the USB and the DIN for controllers.. (all of this is a guess tho...) Good luck, report back if it works as this could be a useful alternative to the Novation 2x4 if mic pre's are your preference over USB and monitoring options...
Thanks. I think the whole iPad connectivity issue is a mess. But on the other hand studio music has always been a mess![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
Apogee Duet also fits the bill.
The Lightning plus USB CCK dongle gives a lot of flexibility for simul-charging without needing a rare interface that can do both. My most versatile setup is a portable battery pack, USB hub that runs on 5v and a USB to barrel connector cable, and that dual connector CCK. I can charge the iDevice, power multiple bus powered controllers, use any class compliant USB interface, etc. It's very modular. It can be a bit of a cabling mess, but velcro or flexloom can make it tidy.
X-station was not very stable as a sound card with the iPad, but I must admit that it was on my early days with the iPad world, so might be me doing wrong stuffs...
How many inputs do you need ?
This could work + a usb hub (to connect a keyboard, an additional midi interface) but no more inputs

But here, no inputs, and midi controls on it are fixed, so you'll need MidiFlow or MidiFire+StreamByter, so that's complicating things...
As you referring the Ultranova, these might (almost) do everything you need ?

Not sure all that is not simpler than a sound card+hub+midi controllers...
The bill actually does not fit in my budget...
