Lightning to headphone

I was just wondering, if i get one of those headphone adaptors for the lightning port, would that mean i can get 2 line outs from my ipad ?

I could be wrong, but I doubt it. It may only be compatible with devices that lack the headphone jack. Or, it would be compatible, but the OS/software may not recognize it as two separate outs. Interesting point, though.

  • Good question Hansson. Or more.....

  • I think iOS will 'disable' the other headphone jack when attaching the lightning->3.5mm thing.
iOS is currently not very good or can't handle multiple audio-devices at the same time.

So for example when using the iRIg Mic HD the built-in Microphone is disabled.
Same when using external DAC the speaker/headphone-jack is automatically 'toggled' meaning both internal and external can't be used at the same time.

  • That's odd. With the smaller NI interfaces and say Traktor on the iPad, you can use the main soundcard for your main outs and still cue from the built in headphone out.

  • Don't forget, anyone with a Zoom recorder such as a H2n or H1 already has a direct headphone connection if they want to hook it up.
