Need to get the old Sampletank
Hi guys,
I had to delete Sampletank from my old iPad 4 due to space reasons, and since the update to version 2 it's no longer possible to get it off App Store. I do have it installed on my iPad mini, and a while back (apparently iOS 8) I could backup apps to the PC using CopyTrans Apps. Now, that doesn't work anymore either. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Is there a reason you can't use the newer version of sample tank? Is it a larger file size or something? In that case, I don't really know of another way. However, if it's because the iPad 4 is still on an older os, the app store is supposed to let you access the most recent version that will still work on that OS.
That may not be new info to you but I figured I'd mention just in case.
@mrufino1, Sampletank 2.x is 64 bits so it won't run on iPad4
This is what IK answered to me:
"Hello,
Thanks for your email.
SampleTank 2 iOS requires a 64-bit device. This is due to the size and CPU requirements of the newly designed engine and sound libraries. Older 32-bit devices proved to run unstable, which makes it unreliable for live use or recording.
You can use any of the following devices:
This simply means you cannot update to the latest version. We recommend you stay on the current version, where you can certainly access your purchased sounds.
We do not recommend erasing the previous version, as the re-download may not be possible. This appears to be a bug with the App Store. Our development team has opened a bug report with Apple and anticipate resolving this soon. We hope to have the App Store allow downloading the previous of SampleTank for devices that cannot run SampleTank 2."
So that's good, the app store should give you a notice if you try to download it that it won't run on your device and that the last working version is available.
Sampletank 2 is not considered a separate app from Sampletank, a la beatmaker, is it? I don't know, it's been a little while since I had Sampletank on my iPad.
EDIT : I just saw your second post, so if it doesn't work right now its a bug I guess?
Yes, it's a bug that I don't know if someday will be fixed, considering iPad4 is the oldest iPad iOS10 compatible and the only one running 32bits apps.
I was in the same situation with my iPhone 5. I managed to hack the old one back onto it by deleting the new version from iTunes then moving the legacy version back in from the "iTunes > Mobile Applications > Previous Mobile Applications" folder. After you sync it back onto the old device, you can upgrade the app in iTunes for newer devices. Keep the old version backed up on your computer for future emergencies. Hope it works for you.
BTW— you're looking for "SampleTank 1.8.5 1.ipa", most likely. It may be in the Mobile Applications folder itself.
Interesting to hear that it's a bug in App Store. Unfortunately I don't think the iPad 4 is synced, but I'll check in case I'm lucky. Otherwise I'll just have to wait for an eventual bug fix.
@aaronpc, I don't undestand...When I delete Sampletank from iTunes, I delete the v.2.0 from my PC, so I don't know how to bring back the v1.85 from iTunes...
Am I missing something?
Make sure you still have a pre-2.0 version to install. Look around in there.
Well. You're pretty much out of luck if you deleted the 1.85 ipa. You can't take the old version from someone else since each ipa is linked to a specific account.
It's like a Philip K Dick story where everyone around you is upgraded to a sleeker sexier 64-bit verson but you don't upgrade and your history and identity are dissolving into a grey puddle of 32-bit USELESS muck, etc.
Yeah. If you don't back up, then you can't back up. Sorry.
