Where has key selector gone on Blocs Wave?

I've been installing and uninstalling Blocs Wave in a cycle since launch. Trying once again and noticed the key selector isn't there... what's up?

Errrr, no it isn't. I have the latest update and my key selector is working perfectly. Hope you two find yours soon.

  • Just using it five minutes ago (Big Boy but not 10)...

....and just for why not I tried it on the Air 1 which is on 10 and it also works fine there....good luck.

  • I am key selector intactus ;)

  • Definitely gone! If I uninstall and reinstall I take it my user samples are gone forever?

  • I'm still on 9. Reinstalled and it's back. How very odd.

  • The Same here

Did you try dropping a clip in from a pack? Just saying because if they are all user loops with key set to none then the option doesnt show up.

    Ding, ding, ding!

  • It's a bug. Try creating a new project.

Probably not a bug. I wager they are user imported loops with the key set to 'none'.

It's a bug. I've had it happen even with all my user loops with the keys correctly set. It seems to happen when you load an old project and use user loops. Doesn't happen to all projects mind but I've had it happen with atleast 3 projects. New ones seem to not have it happen.

  • Mine is here and working

Apart from beats, apart from drum loops, all loops had a key selected.

  • When you create a new project in Blocs Wave, the app is in a 'Keyless' state, hence the Key selector wheel is hidden. The first time you add a loop with some key information, we show the key selector. For example, adding a drum loop might not show the key selector, however, adding a melodic loop will reveal the key selector. I hope this helps.

The problem was that lets say you load an old project. and on a "Page" you deleted all 8 loops. even if you dropped in user loops which have been keyed the key selector wheel would not show up. that being said it only seems to apply to projects created in Blocs V7 and older. and your 8.2 updated might have fixed this behavior since it only happened in 8.1 for me so far.

  • Talking of keys. I have Blocs and find it great, very inspiring and just great fun. But, Lets say we have our loops going in Em then I change to say Dm, It sounds very odd, not instant and takes a second to catch up( sort of slurs into the Dm). This works better say, going from Em to A but jumping a few steps up is where it collapses in a heap. Changing notes works better going down depending how far. I am using a ipad pro 12.9 at ios10, it did it at 9 also. There of course may be a simple reason for this behavior, I'm not expecting miracles, just curious. Cheers.

Ah yes. It depends which original key your loop is in, and how 'far' it is from the Project key. For example, If you load an Aminor loop, then set the project key to Eminor, should Blocs Wave pitch it up, or down? We have a way of doing this that makes it 'just' work for most users. However, if you're a bit more advanced (Like all you lot are ;-)* then you'll want more control over this. Another thing on our list.

    * I clearly mean this in a good way!

  • All we can ask for is a responsive dev.

  • And we're getting it

You do realise @blocsxnovation is a Dev right ? One that is responding ?
bugs sometimes can crawl under the radar into release. It happens with
    Pretty much any software.

Of course... which is why I posted what I did.

Huh. Guess it's really difficult to see tone with text sometimes.
    My bad.

Appreciate you still have a list, one of my favourite apps already - thanks for your hard work.

To clarify... I had recently installed Blocs Wave, had made all included packs invisible in the browser (would be good if could delete these btw!). Had started with a beat and recorded some melodic lines over the top that I then assigned a key. At this point there was still no key selector option at the top of the screen. This, to my mind, is not expected behaviour.

I'm not sure we are on the same track. I have the loop in its original key, say Em 120bpm. During the loop ( section1 for ex) I want to move to Am during that section, then back to Em staying in the same section, then maybe go to section 2 ( still Em) then to Dm then back to Em. A basic 12 bar if you like. Going from the root to the other notes ie Am Dm and back is where the glitches occur.

It may be that's what you mean anyway but I just thought I would add a little more info to help out. Anyway, I like what you are doing so keep it on. Cheers.

  • I use my own loops w/ launchpad often. I’m interested in what this has to offer.
