Best Sounding FM synth on IOS IMHO

    Buying because @RustiK .

  • Getting it, no need to think about this one, at all........

  • Sounds excellent

  • 1-can it load DX7 SysEx? (one can dream...)
    2-what's the performance with Auria?

I actually prefer FM over subtractive, and if it's as easy and fun as DXi, I'm in, definitely.

About 6% from dormant. I've had it up to about 30% with six notes on some patches. Usually showing around 15 to 20 %. Will try multiple copies now

  • Thank you, @Fruitbat1919! What's your iPad, btw?

O yes silly me lol. Air 2 iOS 10. Up to 40% with 3 instances of six notes played simultaneously

  • What a resource hog! The price of quality, of course. Like the FF Twin. Thank you! Looking forward to any iPad Pro users reporting performance before buying.

About 42-44% with 5 instances. These are all played with simultaneous 6 note chords held.

The same test of 5 as above with PPG WaveGenerator goes up to 48%

  • Please bear in mind, the above is not a usual use scenario. Single notes played in sequences brings that down quite a bit.

  • Just noticed that: six notes as a chord! But I tend to layer chordal pads one on top of another, usually four simultaneous notes each part, so this test is important to me. Thank you again!

  • can't seem to find video of the sounds of these outside the STR.

    anything else?

Yeah just wanted to push it to see how it reacts as ive found some apps really break up at high note counts although mainly IAAs

  • Same test with Poison 202 is about the same.

  • AUM shows Enkl is a tad less processor load than PhaseMaker, yet both were a tad lower than Viking.

Seems PhaseMaker is about on par with most other AUs in real use.

    Bummer.

    Double Bummer!! :-(

I'll have the last laugh. I went to buy it while taking my morning crap but couldn't get it on the phone. So now @brambos has had to wait a whole 12 hours until I get home to take my money. No ... wait ... I'm really pissed. I think I'll wait until after I get home and say hi to the wife!

    That'll teach him!

no itunes available to me either... it's "open in" to A file manager or "email it to me" only.
I thought devs had already received this consensus memo :)

I think a lot of the time people seem to think it is iTunes itself we don't want, when actually it is a connection to a Mac or PC we don't have :)

    Speak for yourself. B)

Even thought I have a PC always available, I'm one of those people who would pay money even just to not have to think about iTunes. @brambos could even make it a "No iTunes IAP" and I'd probably go for it. :p

I just wanted to share this with you to help beat the Monday blues...

    Purchased!

Excellent work on the manual, sets the standard.

Now I need to make it do this:

"Skip, RESIST! You don't need any more freakin' iOS music apps. You're not even using the ones you have to their full capacity. You buy them, learn about 60% of the functionality, then you buy another one and start the process all over again. Seriously, dude! What is it that you think you're gonna be able to do with this one that you can't do with several of the others?"

"But, Baby want... Baby want candy... Baby want crack... give the Baby shiny new FM crack... waaaaahhhh."

(baby collapses into fetal position and suckles his thumb)

Perfectly stated. Any further debate - especially in this thread - just seems rude.

+1, anyone got anything to show off yet? :)

  • I love this one. Just spent 5 minutes with it, it has got a beautiful and simple GUI. I really like the presets in this one. Good job on this one.

Yes, the presets were much appreciated, since a good number of people want to play an FM synth, but a much smaller subset of those people actually want to program one. Great implementation of the standalone app keyboard too - I kinda wish more of the AU apps did that. It's great that we have this cool new toy in AU to showcase, but that doesn't change the reality that some people are going to expect to touch the icon and expect a workable instrument to load up. It doesn't hurt the AU functionality to also allow it to run on its own!

    Well done!

  • Why, programming itself in FM is usually easier than in subtractive to get the intended results most of times. Most of times, also, is the interface that gets in the way. Most people seems to think programming in FM equals programming a DX7.

    All around +1

  • I agree with everyone. This rules! The presets are dope! Can't wait to really dive in.

Keep in mind that every voice is essentially 6 independent oscillator+EG+pitchEG+amp chains, wired differently every time (so you can't do parallel calculations). It's already optimized to the max to reduce cpu load but this synthesis technique is quite cpu hungry by nature :-D
