Auria Pro + in-line IAA FX
I know I can't do this at the moment since I updated to iOS10 and Aurio Pro isn't compatible with iOS10 yet...
But, I was curious if you can apply by fading in/out an IAA effect on the same track? ie. If I have 2 mins of source audio on a track, and at the 50sec mark I want to fade in a VoxSyn IAA effect for 15secs, then fade back out to the source without effect... can you do that in Auria Pro?
Or, would I have to slice out the 15sec clip, drop it to it's own track, apply fade in/out VoxSyn FX, and then duck out the source clip during the effect?

Can't try it myself, ios10 also, but I imagine you could put the affect in an aux, and fade (or automate the fade) as and when?
If we could actually try that with an iOS10 compliant install of AP would you mind telling me exactly how I'd go about that? I don't have any experience with using an effect in an aux yet. Just for future reference when AP does get updated for iOS10.
No problem.
Effects can be used in 2 ways. As inserts - on individual tracks, or as auxiliary sends - which can be used by all tracks.
You load the aux sends where it says 'aux fx', top right of the mixer.
You can have up to 6 of these.
Load an fx in the first slot, aux 1. Usually you have 100% effect here, like reverb turned up to full.
Then you can add how much your track will be affected by using the aux 1 knob on your channel.
When you want to write an automation, press the W (the R will light up too). Then just move the knob as you want while playing the track.
Turn off the W when finished, leave the R. Now it's reading what you've written.
You can do all this now, just not with IAA's, but it will work with Auria effects.
That's a very useful piece of advice - thanks!
Thank you!
Hi, I tried this out the other night and was getting the hang of it. Was a little difficult figuring out how to use the other 4 aux fx too since only 1&2 show on then track mix channel.
I was able to record/automate aux fx while playing the track and did so with all 6 aux channels.
Two questions if you could be so kind 1. When Auria Pro is updated to work with ios10, will I be able to use IAA fx in those aux channels as well? 2. I recorded my aux fx live by dialing the aux knob while playing the track. But, can I also simply set/instructan aux effect to fade in at exactly 1:13:00 for 5 seconds, then slowly fade the effect out over 30secs? Or, can the automation only be recorded while the track is actually playing?
I try to check before I say anything, but as I'm on iOS 10 too, this is not possible. However I'm fairly sure you can load any IAA effects in the Aux fx slots. Plus I just checked the manual, and you can load them, no problem.
I find it easier to record automation using the R/W buttons, then edit them after, but you can do either.
The automation is found in Track view. Press on the box that says Audio (or Midi), and these are the automation possibilities. The ones that exist already are in bold.
When you choose one, like volume, if you've already done some writing, there are dots joined up by lines. Grab a dot by holding for a bit, then you can move them. You can delete them in the edit menu. Also you can hightlight a section (press, hold, then move to wherever you want), and using the scissors, it will create a straight line between 2 dots.
If you have no automation already you can create these control points by holding down anywhere in the track and one will appear.
You can automate many things in Auria, and this works for all the Auria plug ins, like fabfilter too!
Oh awesome! I didn't know you could edit them. What section is this in the manual? I'll put some time in so that I don't have to trouble you on the forum, and only ask specifics if i get really stuck. Thank you!
IAA effect as Aux fx -156
Automation - 137, Chapter 9
No trouble though!
