Tuning

Hi. I use music studio and garage band. I like to play along with someone on the piano but often the piano is a little low from normal pitch. None of these apps allow me to tune them a few cents, only transpose a whole note down. Is there an app that is made for tuning or that has this feature and if so, could I use audiobus in conjunction with music studio to tune what I'm playing in music studio down or up?
Thanks.

  • Get that damn piano tuned mate. ;)

  • Thumbjam?

  • Apps like AudioStretch and Capo will allow you to import audio files and transpose them in half-step increments.

  • Use synth apps for which you can adjust the oscillator/s by semitones. There are plenty- Thor and Mersenne come to mind. I suspect you may be chasing a dragon, but good luck.

  • Some synths have a Master Tune setting that will allow you to tune the synth to the piano, I know that iM1 has it, and possible Module also, Galileo has it......I'm sure many more do too, but not all have it.

  • Yeah but what the OP seems to want to me is an effect which will take the output of Music Studio and make it a teeny bit flat.

I'm pretty sure there isn't one.

  • I don't know of any real time tuning app that can take a whole track and retune it live. Best get that piano tuned ;)

If using IAA or AUx in Music studio or Garageband, then these IAA/AUx may have the master tune setting. The OP did not specify how they were using the apps.

Applying detune after the fact on the overall output of MS/GB will also affect any drum tracks.

@Martygras has the right solution, tune the piano, then there isn't a problem to try and fix.

    :)

Why thank you Andy. My friend is a piano tuner and I've seen him bring a horrible POS back to life in about 3 hours. Amazing talent that guy.

    Is he rich $$$$ ? :D

  • Pardon me for encouraging the hijack - I think piano tuning usually runs about 100$. It's a flat rate sorta gig. If a tool like this can shave 15minutes off each job, that means more time to take more jobs a week. 300 for any professional tool ain't much....

We just had our piano tuned, ran us $159.00 I think. Guy came in, got all set up, had a tuner with him, tuned one key(string) with his cheap little tuner, then, he did the rest by ear. I watched him for a good portion of it.

Pretty talented guy. Our piano sounds a whole hellava lot better too!
