What ever happened to Stochastik?
It was supposedly within a month of AB update release and now everything has been silent for months...anyone?
Comments
I emailed Dev @xitive 2weeks ago to followup, but no response. He said he would begin work on AB support in June. Oh well. I was really looking forward to that one.
I wonder if a lot of devs are stalling in anticipation of iOS7
@jesse_ohio Good point.
I wish some devs would understand the potential of their apps, that there's none other like them and continue development on them. : (
And Cassini! I misses it.
@syrupcore - absolutely! It forever holds a place on my ipad though...I've given up hope on it a while ago but still held a slimmer of hope for Stochastik simply because the Dev actually responded and gave us a timeline....I think Cassini was "before its time" and I love the UI of it.
Stochastik developer 'favourited' my tweet (2 weeks later).... sneaky code for 'it's coming'?? No idea. +1 on Cassini. +1 @jesse_ohio Good point.
If I remember correctly, the guy who does Cassini said he was having trouble implementing Audiobus and he was going to try to get help from the Audiobus crew. I hope it happens cuz it's a nice synth.
Yeah, I keep reading reviews of Cassini and it sounds like something I could really use, but I simply won't lay down the money without AB.
The big turnoff of Cassini is that the presets are so anonymously named. Tha makes no difference to those who do their own patches, but it's a bad way to get started checking out the Synth. I'm done with t for the time being.
I LOVE Shockastik, and would love to see it on the ABus!
But something tells me there's gonna be a lull until IOS7 drops. Start your app fund today!
Midi out on Schockastik would be INCREDIBLE too. I know it does Wist, but....
So my thoughts on this... If apps are waiting to implement Audiobus because of the impending iOS 7 update, they shouldn't! It's already been generally agreed amongst major iOS musicians/devs that the new "inter-app audio" won't kill Audiobus. So, why not do like Kymatica and implement Audiobus but also have your newly developed app "iOS 7 inter-app audio ready.
Of course I could be completely wrong and iOS 7 may completely change everything but why would some (quite experienced) devs release news apps and include both if AB was to be obsolete. Though they're under NDA, do actions speak louder than words? Or are we reading too far into it?
You may be reading too far into it, but try to consider a developer's perspective: there is little to be gained by rushing out a version that is optimized for AB in a previous OS. It's very possible that changes may be necessary, not only regarding AB, but other functions.
Also, it's summer. Sales are a bit slow compared to the boom they can expect when the school year starts
Yeah. And if even if it has nothing to do with AB vs iOS inter-app audio (I'm coining IAA for that btw), they would likely have to do a minor version update for iOS7 anyway (compatibility or whatever) so they might as well wait to do both at once. IDK.
I suppose but since this was promised by the dev about two months ago to be ready and now no update or anything
Cassini dev did say he was having trouble with it a while ago and I think @michael said he was going to reach out to him directly. It's a great synth and it sounds like itself - not another VA. Plus, that delay. Mother of god, that delay.
maybe i need to look into cassini again. I had enjoyed their other synths on my iphone; it's one of the things that got me interested in iOS music...
Cassini is still a great synth. Its very deep with a ton of options.
Re: Stochastik. If you revisit the App Store details, you'll find a few year old "coming soons"...Pretty disappointing.
I believe the sales were pretty disappointing as well, so that probably put a dent in any future plans at the time. I'd say the interface probably turned people away when looking at the screens. Anyway, if I could do a wish list it would be AB (obviously), a slightly reworked interface to keep all of the patterns etc on 1 screen. Also rework the menu system, it's slightly "confusing" for lack of a better word. So back to the drawing board on those two things. Then, remove all the 909 samples to reduce the size of the app, and well it's just yet a bunch more 909 sounds after all. Either release it as a free update, or re-launch the app again as a completely new/separate app (I would gladly pay for a new revised/updated version, IF all the thousands of 909 samples were removed lol).
