Using Auria's "Save Project to Other App" without external storage, to sync data to a PC/MAC HDD?
Today I've been having a think about file management with Auria. Did a little searching through old Audiobus and Auria message board threads and just running this idea past you guys to see if you can confirm/deny whether it is possible or not.
So..
If I have a laptop powered on and connected with an external HDD, can I use the "Save Project to Other App" option in Auria Pro, choose this app (FileBrowser):
https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/filebrowser-access-files-on/id364738545?mt=8
Then have this app set up with the laptop so that the files will be sent via wi-fi to the external HDD? If that's possible I expect that it should be able to save and boot up in the same manner.
Anyone run this kind of storage setup, or have the knowledge to know if it's possible?
Thanks,
Oscar

Hi Oscar,
I take ifiles2 for this.
SMB doe the rest.
Safe to another app in auria. I have no idea what rim means and have not testet it.
I'm not using FIleBrowser but iFiles 2 but it should work pretty much the same.
I can send just about any file to iFiles 2(using iOS DocumentPicker or 'Open In...'). iFiles 2 then 'shares' all it's files using SMB and announces the share using Bonjour so it's visible to all connected Macs, PCs and Linux boxes.
(After that I can use the computer to transfer the files to where ever they need to go).
At least on the Mac external drives have to be added to the sharing panel before they are visible via SMB. Once the share are there it's possible to use both iFiles 2 and (FileBrowser?) to access the SMB share and copy over the files.
AirDrop should work too in both directions as long as you're on a Mac.
My 'storage setup' for now is a Synology NAS with some extra USB-Drives attached and my 64GB Sandisk iXpand Lightnng/USB drive.
Cool, cheers. Can it go directly onto the computers storage without needing to touch the computer, or do you need to do your bit on the iPad and then go finish the job with the computer?
iFiles 2(And FileBrowser) can browse a NAS and Computer and it's 'shares' just like normal.
The reason I opted for a NAS solution was so I don't have to use the computer more than needed
Both iFiles 2 and FileBrowser(selected folders) can also act as iOS-Fileproviders meaning all the files are available to all apps using the standard iOS-DocumentPicker.
I can confirm that FileBrowser can save to any drive that you can share via SMB on a PC or MAC. All you need to do is get the folder shared, set the connection properly in FileBrowser, and then use open-in. No further action needed on the PC or Mac. I also use FileBrowser to copy directly to a USB HDD connected to my HooToo router.
Thanks guys, I'll be doing this for sure.
