Haven't really tried the AU yet, did see the same 'only works on some notes' issue, but changed the routing and it seemed to make a difference. No real initial spiking on the CPU (big Boy 9.33). BUT, and for those wondering about making money from developing AU, I can say that because I'm tired and in the middle of moving madness and surely deserving of some reward I DID buy myself the 24.99 Keys update (which I may not have done if the AU release hadn't just come out; convoluted but true) and I can confirm that a ) its not the CMP thingies and b ) the first Grand Piano, which is all I've tried at this point, is soft and utterly lovely. I know, subjective, but still. The idea of playing with it more later will hopefully sustain me through the rest of the day chopping down these ridiculous domestic trees....

Have you tried the other sounds yet? What's your verdict?

To my mind it's only 7 sounds. The balance are all combinations, which are nice but always feel a bit of a rip off. HOWEVER, the seven solo sounds are just terrific. Piano is lovely and the Celtic harp (who knew?) is outstanding. Worth 24.99? Comparatively, maybe not, for most folks, but I'm glad I bought them/it and -after all- that was with The Other Guy's money, the bloke from last week, who cares what he paid? :) It is an article of truth/faith for me that most apps feel more expensive before I buy and become quickly cheaper after the button's been pushed. Of course, once you start adding it all up.....

Personally I think you will drive yourself nuts trying to achieve this, unless someone else can think of a faster approach. Even if an app prior to the sound could achieve such a result, the settings would need to know the actual attack of all the differing instruments mapped and be able to respond to them, or would just sound wrong.

Impressive technical solution, glad for your expertise, but I think I'll concede really. Sounds very long process. Thanks for the suggestion though.

  • I was surprised yesterday when I found out that AU is actually working! At least in some hosts.

I had tried in Cubasis, mod step and AUM, and they all have serious problems with the AU version of iSymphonic. But I loaded it into Garage Band yesterday and it plays really nicely. Even several instances.

What's best is that while after first loading an AU instance, it took its time to load every new sound I was selecting, but when I came back to the project, selecting sounds was instantly, just like in the standalone app.

So the cool thing about this is if it is working in one host, they might figure out how to do it for other hosts.

Now I have to download GB again :p

  • GB also just shows what sounds you have bought! That's so much better than scrolling through all the blank sounds :)

Damn and there you go being all neighborly and shaming those of us who have been playing with it in GB for the past week but didn't have the simple courtesy to tell the brethren....it's actually a lovely thing, but just makes me wish I could do easy fades in GB at this point....always something... :)

  • I just bought the new "Keys"-pack,because all the others (and I got all of them) are excellent imo.
But this one is pretty bad (not even considering the price).A couple of sounds have totally unbalanced
velocities, the "Celtic Harps" are barely hearable even with the volume of the app and the global volume turned
up all the way.Iˋll try to get a refund although apple seems to have changed their "policies?Very disappointed!

Sorry to hear that. I love the piano in the pack and can only report that the Celtic Harp seems OK for volume over here. Odd. Good luck with the refund.

  • I think there must be something going wrong with the installation because the app crashes when it seems to
install the new sounds.I also really love the sound of the piano and Iˋd like to keep the pack.So Iˋll try a new installation.@JohnnyGoodyear Thanks for your comment!

For the record (or for whatever variable you're trying to remove from the confused equation) my setup is exactly the same as yours, except I am down to my last 5 gbs...

  • It works like a charm in GB.
    Well I'll be!!!
    Thanks Nick :)

    Agreed.

Have to say that I have never questioned my investment in iSymph (the Missus might have), but the addition to AU has really made me happy.

  • Just to put it right - I really love the iSymphony-app,I have ALL expansions, and I use them every day in my studio
work and now with AU in AuriaPro itˋs fantastic! But for some reason (which I donˋt understand myself) some of
the sounds in this new Key-Pack just donˋt work on my iPad.You know "I canˋt tell you why".And this is not meant
as a comment against the high quality of this app (see above).

Auria also works perfectly with Au Isymphonic.
