nanoKontrol Studio and AUM

Any advice for using Korg nanoKontrol Studio to control AUM? I haven't dived into the Korg editor yet but I think I need to set up a scene that has latching mutes and solos? What is the best way to get bi directional feedback of the mute solos status of tracks and keep them in sync? Can I set up MMC to control the transport?

Yep, you just need to open up the editor to set the latches. Takes a little while to do the MIDI learn in Aum but worth it. I wish the hardware had an extra set of knobs though. I need to assign them to the effects send but also need a set for Turnado wrangling. Might need the Nanokey studio too!

  • would like to use aum more especially with the nano kontrol studio. is there a step by step or video one can smoke over?

  • anybody else doing this? im undecided between this and launchcontrol xl?

Yes, love that app. I actually want to use that in conjunction with Seekbeats.

On a somewhat related note, found this post below from @crony on an older thread https://forum.audiob.us/discussion/12354/aum-and-hardware-possibilities/p2 where it looks like using AUM and a controller has a greater chance of crashing due to numeric mixtables? I have no clue what that means so hope that ppl smarter than me can explain as I plan on using AUM and some controller in a live situation. Thnx in advance!

OMHO, the Soundcraft MTK would be the best of both world...
I'm not sure it could also manage both audio in AND out , at the same time thru usb, carrefull on that...
But in combination with a launchcontrol XL for instance (for AUM ) could be nice...
Not a big fan of having AUM + Kmix in live, because of the crash you could get in a live situation with all numeric mixtables...But, switching between mixtable to a midi control panel on the same device is indeed interesting...

There's also the UFX 1604 from Berhinger, recording 16 separated tracks directly to a usb key that might be interesting ? (don't know if you can feed AUM thru it...)

  • @gjcyrus then go for LaunchControl XL without a doubt. The experience to handle Launchpad with controller is lovely. I have purchased a launchkey only for get the control over backing tracks and play solo lines over them.

  • @Dubbylabby thnx m8! launchcontrol it is!
