Is this thread the reason for this update ?

I think it's just a happy coincidence. I doubt he could squash all these bugs in a couple of days, but he is pretty badass.

    **What's New in Version 2.0.4
    **
    • Equalizer bands now react better to touches. When no handle has been touched exactly, the nearest band is used for setting its frequency and gain. This implies that you must touch the bandwidth handles exactly to change them, as it was in all previous versions.
    • Fixed crash when double-tapping into an empty area of the oscillator or equalizer displays.
    • Fixed rarely occuring wrong Automation behaviour.
    • Fixed possible crash when removing steps.
    • Fixed possible crash when playing the melodic keyboard.
    • Fixed possible envelope misbehaviour.
    • Improved reception of non-timestamped MIDI Clock from some apps.
    • Fixed 24 bit sample playback in 64 bit version.
    • Fixed incorrect LFO rates.
    • Lots of little improvements and fixes.
    • AudioBus V2.2.2.
    • Note that this is the last version supporting iOS 6. All future versions are going to require a newer iOS version.

    Yeah, happy one, cool !!

  • For those on the fence about a $20 drum synth, DM2 update coming by end of next week. Or is this really that amazing?

It depends on your interests. If you're into synthesis and don't mind digging into an app, I can recommend Stroke Machine. However, it doesn't have the immediacy of Elastic Drums or DM2. Some just find Stroke Machine too laborious and not fun as stated in previous comments. Check out the TSTR demo and others if you haven't already.

It really is that amazing, very detailed 2 osc synthesis (2 envelopes, lfo, ring mod, fm, etc etc) with sample loading for both osc, extensive modulation, automation, and fx schema, up to 12 voices can be assigned their own midi channels.

I have DM2 (and the rest of the available drum synths on iOS). Its great, there's something about all of them that is great. But SM is more of a synth laboratory, capable of a huge range of sounds, including lead and bass, analog drum synth and fm. For me it comes down to this: to my ears, it sounds big and rich, is capable of delivering unique sounds quickly, and can be used by itself to make an entire track. What @telecharge says is true, you do have to be interested in digging into synthesis...

You should always stroke your machine.

But if I make a pattern like

    XXXX | XXXX | XXXX | XXXX

and then set a swing value above 50 it loads up like

    XX X | XX X | XX X | XX X

when the app is open again.

    Do you get this too?

Apart from that it seems solid.

I'm using it pretty strictly as a sound module...so I'm of no help on this except to suggest you contact the dev via inapp link, he's really responsive (he actually emailed me apologizing for the delay in updating SM)

Never stopped loving it, I use it weekly

The ability to fm samples with another sample is unique. I'm not aware of another iOS app that has this feature. In the past I've used hardware modulars to fm samples, perhaps one of the iOS modular environments can accomplish the same.

    A great drum synth/ sampler.

No, just tried with v2.0.6 and increasing shuffle gives me
    X XX X|X XX X|X XX X|X XX X|
as it should, even after save and reload.

  • Great sounds, but the onscreen keyboard is poor and some of the layout could be better imo.

I never used the keyboard either, the piano roll works so much better - or an external keyboard if you have one.

Absolutely! We can even replace 4OP/6OP FM by using FM samples and adding life by using SM's oscillator FM or RM. Much easier and quicker than doing pure FM.
