ILoud and iPhone 7

Been trying to find some info for this, but have been unable to locate any. With the demise of the headphone jack in the iPhone 7, and possible future demise in the iPad, what happens with the connection between the iLoud and the iDevice? Currently, to use it with amp modelling software, you need to have the hardwired connection between the headphone jack on the device, and the iLoud. So, what is the plan going forward for this? It might be blindingly obvious and very simple, or just not happening. I do love my iLoud, it's great for my guitar, bass and also for listening to music. Is there a way around this problem?

I posted in the ikmultimedia forum, but thought I'm just as likely to get an answer here, if not more so.

  • Stay away from the iPhone 7!

  • IK Multimedia got back to me, the connectors work just fine with the adaptor that comes with the iPhone 7.

Personally, I'm starting to wonder if the entire to do about the loss of the headphone jack is a lot more overdone than it deserves. If I can listen to the headphones through the adaptor, and I can monitor my recordings, then I'm at a bit of a loss over the concern. But I did see there was a rather lengthy ran thread elsewhere that probably has all the arguments laid out endlessly. :D

There's a few interfaces that have a lightning connector, but rely on you using the headphone jack on the device (they have no headphone jack of their own). I'm sure some of the IK multimedia interfaces do this, as well as the Apogee Jam and some others. Those interfaces will not work with the iPhone 7.

Yes, I realized this after the fact. You plug the guitar into the Lightning interface, and then you still need the headphone jack, and the apple adaptor is simply a headphone jack. So, it's not going to work.

  • they actually have adapters that have a headphone input plus a lightning in so you can use you Apogee Jam with headphone like before, Im sure more will be popping up. Personally Im not in favor of Apple removing the headphone jack, I hope they dont remove it from Ipads too.

  • Ik told me that it will definitely work with the Apple iPhone dock as well. Also, Belkin is releasing a lightning splitter as well.
