You use apps MIDIDESIGNER & LEMUR?
What do you use them for?
What do you recommend for someone who hasn't gotten started and wants to learn how to approach the app?
I have both but sadly I am so busy I never put the time in on them to learn how to use and design them. I know they have a world of potential.
I am interested to hear how you folks use these apps and about the learning curve or pointers.
Thanks!

I use GridLock w/ Lemur. If you have a supported controller it's great: http://sigabort.co/gridlock.
I suggest starting with existing templates for the programs/apps/hardware you already own.
Lemur templates: https://liine.net/en/community/user-library
MIDI Designer templates: http://mididesigner.com/community
It'll take some time to go through them, but once you're comfortable using a few different templates, you'll have a better idea of what works best for you.
If you're not finding what you're looking for, ask for assistance in their forums. Designing can be a huge time suck if you're starting from scratch.
Lemur is probably the most powerful midi tool available on iOS.
I did create a template for sequencing drums (iElectribe), a mono synth (iMS20), and a poly synth (iPolysix or galileo), all working with selectable scales and being able to enter a chord progrssion.
By the time I had finished it, ModStep got released and I gave up.
Then, Novation Circuit got released and I created a synth editor in Lemur for it.
Lemur is a very useful tool for when you want to control something that doesn't have an iOS app for it, but in general I leave it alone as I get far too wrapped up in making it work, and I lose far too many music making hours to it.
Creating templates is far easier using the pc editor, the iOS editor UI is a ltlle fiddly, especially when working with the scripting language inside Lemur.
I' ve used lemur to operate a kaosspad with a unresponsive screen and while I was at that I've put some physics on the xy cursor and a selectable table of fx.
Agree, very tempting and frustrating at the same time tool.
Don't know if Mididesigner is easier to approach though??
I appreciate all the replies.
You too Andy
I haven't tried Lemur yet... but with zero previous MIDI experience I have been able to do quite a lot in MIDIDesigner. It is very approachable and entirely programmed on the iPad itself.
I have Lemur, mididesigner, And use Only sonicLogic because i have a template faster Tien with Lemur Mididesigner or touch osc or whatever.
I've used Mididesigner live to work through a set list, selecting prep recorded drum tracks to play in AUM, setting bias Fx preset, setting ableton link tempo via Loopy, etc. all with the press of a single button. Worked well for me.
