Help, audio interface lightning

Hi,
I'm trying to leverage the accumulated knowledge on this forum for my next audio interface purchase..

I need a lightning audio interface that also charges the iPad with stereo line input and at least headphone monitor/output. I have a Scarlett interface now but sick of having to stop working to recharge the iPad. Any ideas?

  • Looks great but is listed @ $949.95 on my local Apple Store.. welp

    Know of anything cheaper?

  • The Auria development team keeps a regularly updated list of interfaces: http://auriaapp.com/Support/auria-audio-interfaces

  • You might as well just use the CCK USB3, and keep the Scarlett? (Less money to spend...).

Awesome list, the focusrite itrack meets my needs (IPad mini using link so don't need midi)

  • Don't thank me, thank @WaveMachineLabs!

    That's an option too

Wait I just looked at this on apple, can I power my iPad from this!

If you like your interface, the CCK3 is the obvious choice. There aren't many interfaces that also charge the device over lightning that I'm aware of. Only Apogee comes to mind.

  • Yeah, great thing is, it has the seperate power (only power, though..., it seems). Should give you happiness..!

This is the best solution, because I am very happy with the soundcard I have, 18i6 focusrite. Glad I asked on here because this just saved me buying more than I needed

  • I have a Scarlett 18i8 and in combination with the USB3 CCK, it all works very nicely. There's no point getting anything else if you like your interface already... I don't know if there are other "copycat" CCKs but just get the Apple one!

Yeah I've heard the copy cat cck3 is not realiable, picking up a legit one tomorrow

  • I'm using the Cck3 with my Akai EIE and it works very well. I used to have to swap out my mini 2 near the end of my monthly jam session. Now, it's at 100% at the end.

Exactly what I want to do

  • I got fed up with using a wall mounted interface and am going to give someone an I track dock. Great device I just don't use it. As of yesterday I'm using the IK Multimedia (great company) Irig pro. Best interface hands down for any professional needs. It works with the Mac and iPad, low drainage on the battery, and the build is outstanding. I have had an Irig midi 1 which routes only midi, surprisingly enough Since its inception. I believe five years ago?
This bad boy handles midi, 48v, Mac, iOS compliant, and is portable. Which I need. 96k is possible if you are into that sort of space waste. If you have tons of cables for your guitar as I do you'll have no issues hooking it up in seconds. Any small mixer would expand the pre amps(just one) if you need more. You also get a lot of free programs, but I still am going to use my tube amp, guitar rig, with yonac(best signal chain imho). Hope this helps. Oh they have an "Irig HD as well you should look into since its 99.00. as the pro is 125. Amazon prime is free for a month you'll get in two days. I would of purchased it, but nobody is carrying it. They rival the apogee, my buddy had the big one and I personally enjoy my dials for all of my pre amps.

Hope I helped somewhat with my limited knowledge. (Noob) "guitarist". <<

    Cheers

  • Oh and a trick if you spend the 50 bux for the cck USB 3 which is worth it, you can use the computer cable and charge your device while using it.

  • Well I bought the cck3 and it works excellently with the iPad and blocswav. Really impressed with how much better making tunes is on my iPad with this setup (I was previously using a cheap eBay 30pin cck with an iPad3). Sounds sweet through the interface but one thing I haven't tested is the midi port on the Scarlett but will test that soon too.
