  • I also had SunVox for several years before starting to learn how to use it. It has quickly risen to be one of my favorite step sequencing apps. The UI looks a bit strange to those who aren't used to that look, but it responds as expected to touch operations, unlike many other apps where you move your finger one way and the knob turns the other way.

  • @tja Thanks for sharing my vid in here. I used this forum topic for the idea of the video. Hope it helped.

  • Cells is great, but does not record velocity from a midi controller. You can have accent notes, but not a full range of velocity. I’d love to see cells updated.

Side note: the Arturia keystep is great for non real time step sequencing and it records velocity, rests, and ties easily.

  • Would love to see midiSTEPs as an AUv3.
It can already host up to 4 AUv3's but it would be neat to use it the other way around too :)

  • Is there a way to enter chords when step sequencing in Sunvox? I know how to enter single notes but can't figure out how to do it for chords.

Use as many horisontal lanes as you need, if you have 4 columns you can add a note to each of them to represent a chord like this...

    That's C-4, D#4, G-4 and C-5

Poweruser trick would be to create 'meta modules' with chords in them for 1 finger chord triggering but that's more complicated..

  • Do I understand you correctly that in SunVox step entry of chords requires you to play them one note at a time. Or is there a way to hold down multiple keys and have them allocated to their own 'tracks'?

Ohhhhh. Need to find a video about this. Or search the manual :)
Was not aware that SunVox can do this ...

Search “chords” here in the main SunVox forum http://www.warmplace.ru/forum/viewforum.php?f=16
    Or in the Modules subforum
    http://www.warmplace.ru/forum/viewforum.php?f=11
and you’ll find some interesting chord stuff

When you record stuff live it will place the chord-note next to each other so theoretically it should be possible.
I don't know 'everything' about Sunvox yet. maybe there is a 'jam mode' like on some of the old trackers?
If not Nightradio seems to be super responsive to feature-requests and Sunvox is quite frequently updated :)

From what I know for now chords need to be entered one by one or 'recorded'.

For easy playing of chords I crated a metamodule with my favourite chords and from the main module I can trigger them using a multisynth and automate the 'phase value' to set the line on which the chords is in in the metamodule.
(For example if one creates a 16 step pattern with 4 chords 4 lines apart the 'phase values' will be 0, 2000,4000 & 6000 for the 4 chords). When the pattern is done just the root note needs to be entered in the pattern.

It will take time to master Sunvox that's for sure...

This is the easiest way to 'fake chords' in Sunvox.
It uses 4 multi-synths (1 'trigger' and 3 with different transpose values all routed to synth).
