Bump!
Thanks @Flo26. Only 18 views and no comments/likes, and this took over an hour to put together!
Thanks russell for the video! Nice tips!
Cheers man!
Glad you liked it Flo!
Forgot to add....good to see you online again. It's been a while, hasn't it? @technemedia mentioned you had a big DD project coming up. Looking forward to it!
I appreciate you, Russ! I don't know that we have enough DD users here to generate much more traffic than that, but I feel like the hits will rack up as time goes on. I've noticed that your "typical" thread here on the AB forum gets around 200-250 views on the first day.
Yeah thanks man. I'm still trying to get my head around much of it you are appreciated though
I would also add that there have been a few prominent Different Drummer threads, so there may be some fatigue setting in.
Thanks russell!!
I've just finished an album in which i use DD a lot but it's NOT a DD project.
It's a very personal thing .french lyrics, narrative style,no guitar at all etc..
I had a lot of fun making it!
@funjunkie27 Thank you very much for this informative tutorial.
Looking at this with interest, it was soon apparent that you know this app inside out. Sadly, I got lost pretty quick 'cause there is so much going on. I appreciate that explaining exactly, step by step, how something works might be tedious for you and result in much longer demos, so you may not want to take that road. But the sheer complexity of what is possible with DD needs that kind of approach for someone like me.
The little white circles illustrating controls were very helpful, though, and I look forward to future episodes. I really want to get more from this app, and can see how interesting it could be.... if I can take in all that I need to take in before getting frustrated that I've messed a part up.
Thanks folks.
@telecharge - user volume and fatigue might well be part of it. I was motivated to do the videos though as a result of hearing of so many people struggling to wrap their heads around the app. I'm hoping these videos can help them decide if DD is for them.
@flo26 - understood....looking forward to hearing your album!
@Nikersov - There are still a few gaps I have in understanding the app. Given the amount of time I've put in it, that illustrates how deep the app is. Its always a decision to determine the level I want to go to in creating a video. At this point, I wanted to start with a broader overview, just to show what can be accomplished in DD, and perhaps enough to get some people started. At some point, I may do more detailed videos. In the meantime, feel free to pm me if you have specific questions.
@flo26 for the record...I called You a DD Master, not your project a DD project ;-)
@funjunkie27 you are a DD Guru!
My bad on misquoting you @technemedia! And thanks for the guru comment, but this "guru" might need to reach out to you before doing some of these videos to get some guidance. In fact, I already shot you a query re external controllers a little earlier.
Thanks for these tutorials.
The dense DD fog is slowly clearing at last....
Yes thanks a bunch, learn something new with each video.
Glad to hear the vids are helping clear things up!
Just did a marathon DD + Elastic Drums session - so distracted my iPad just powered off on me. Thx for the MIDI info, I'm going to go blink now
I know that feel. Someone needs to invent iGlasses.
@funjunkie27 don't take the slow pick up on each new video to heart, personally i've now taken DD from the WTF folder and moved it onto the front page of my ipad and have been having fun using it everyday.
That has happened because of your first video, it may be a while before i exhaust the possibilities you've opened up for me and i need to look at the next one.
Here's 45 seconds of my jam yesterday with DD + FluXpad + triqtraq hosted by Carla, a Jack-based patchbay:
@ kin - I overreacted yesterday...a bit of a pissy day. I'm actually thrilled to see a few folks got something out of it!
@Ocsprey - now I feel like a babe in the woods with your video. Very cool!
I couldn't get to another video yesterday, as I had hoped, but there will be more to follow. I gave it some thought though, and wave manipulation will be next in queue. That will be a bit longer though, as it is the heart of the app.
Thx @funjunkie27 - look forward to wave mapping, definitely much to learn there.
Very cool to see the creativity and capabilities of the iOS Musical Community. Hope you enjoy the iPhone functionality I'm adding. Thanks for all the inspiration to get me over the finish line!
Thank you so much for these tuts finally DD is starting to make sense to me. More please!
Did one today with DD driving both Moebius Lab & SoundScaper:
Pretty cool @Ocsprey. Riding the range slider in DD is a cool technique. I don't have Sounscaper, but Moebius is a blast!
Thx... so much fun to see what you can do - got all that sound just sending out the included Kick and "Dark Noise" sounds to Moebius & SoundScaper.
