Audio interfaces and powered USB hubs
Hello all,
I was wondering if anyone is aware of any issues with using audio interfaces and powered USB hubs?
I'm trying to use a Komplete Audio 6 with a little powered hub; interface into the hub and hub into the CCK.
However, when I do this, I get intermittent pops and cracks from the outputs.
I've also got an Alesis control hub, and I get the same with this through the powered hub, but not when it's being powered directly from the ipad through the CCK.
Unfortunately the Komplete Audio 6 requires too much power for the ipad to be able to power it directly, and it's got no external PSU, but I need the extra outputs it provides. Trying to simplify my live setup and would, like to leave my laptop at home.
Does anyone know what could be causing this? Could it be down to the powered hub? It is quite a cheap one, are they maybe not made equal?
I'm running an ipad mini 2, iOS 9.3.3
Thanks

Another hub is certainly worth a try. Also, have you optimized your iPad for recording?

Here's a YouTube of someone using a Komplete Audio 6 and Belkin hub with an iPad 3. , but proof of concept.
Thanks Telecharge.
I guess it must be the hub. I can't see any other variable that could be causing it.
It's a cheap little Advent one. I guess I'll do some research and see if there's any hub reccomendations on here or elsewhere.
Or... Would the CCK USB3 do the job?
I would just look at Amazon and see what the best selling USB hubs are, then check the reviews to ensure iPad compatibility.
Not sure if the CCK is enough to power your Komplete Audio 6. Check with NI on that.
After I wrote my last post, I thought about that mention of no other variables and I realised I hadn't checked the USB cable from the hub to the CCK... Swapped that guy out and it's fine now. Silly me.
Glad you got it sorted. Some folks with iConnectify devices have had problems with cables as well. Pretty rare in my experience.
